lh82   10 #1 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) So as the title says we would like to take the children away for a few nights towards the end of the month.  Fed up of the usual Skegness / Bridlington / Scarborough / Mablethorpe etc!  Does anyone have any suggestions for nice places not to far away with enough entertainment for the kids? We also love the lakes but thinking a little closer to home.  Thank you in advance for any suggestions  Sorry, forgot to say, kids are 3,7 and 9 Edited August 4, 2013 by lh82 Kiddies ages
 Share this content via...

alchresearch   215 #5 Posted August 5, 2013 What about the North West? You've got the seaside of Southport, beautiful beaches at Formby, Ainsdale and Wirral, as well as the benefits of Liverpool and all the galleries, museums and other attractions, plus Chester is a short train journey away.  Get a family rail ticket as all the above are well served by the Merseyrail train network.  This thread covers loads to do in the area:  http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1180472  And for accomodation there's a few caravan parks, or plenty of hotels and B&Bs. llamatron   10 #6 Posted August 5, 2013 whitby/robin hoods bay  you can go fossil hunting at whitby on the small pebbly beach (I found a good one). There are sandy beaches with caves on the main beach and Robin hoods bay for rock pools!
 Share this content via...
