Pixie824 Â Â 10 #13 Posted June 17, 2013 The no lids thing is a mark of respect and generally agreed with the police beforehand. If anyone wants to wear theirs that's fine but most don't. They are always carried or ferried there in a car/van though as they will be worn on the way home when there is no escort.
 Share this content via...

HotStuff669 Â Â 10 #18 Posted June 17, 2013 Many thanks Pixie824 for the explanation. I suspected it was some tradition, and I had noticed I couldn't see where they were carrying their hats and so wondered how they would get home. I would be very privileged if I had a sendoff like that. Well done. RIP.
 Share this content via...

jaxter30   10 #20 Posted June 17, 2013 He was known as Pec and a very well respected biker xx RIP xx  didnt know you knew him too k. Jay was in the procession, awesome sight but such a sad loss. R.I.P peck.  ---------- Post added 17-06-2013 at 21:42 ----------  I didn't notice the hearse but obviously all of the bikes caught my attention. Hardly any of them were wearing helmets though - yet the police motorbike escort didn't seem bothered.  Not wearing an helmet is a mark of respect to the person being buried. Police wont say or do anything as they were providing an escort. No helmet = police escort. soon as everything is over..helmets go back on. samsparro   10 #22 Posted June 17, 2013 I didn't know the lad personally either, but had seen him at SMC a few times in the past.  Always sad to see a fellow biker die, RIP.  As a note, I was there for the procession today in my official capacity, I just want to say that all the bikers present were brilliant, very well behaved and were a credit to themselves and the family.  A fitting send off to what was quite clearly a loved man.  Sam
 Share this content via...
