Dingus
Are rising sea levels as much or more about rain as about melting ice caps? There is an awful lot of rain getting into our rivers and it ends up in the sea.

On average around 1 billion tons of water goes into the seas from the world's rivers every second.

Assuming that you were being serious... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_cycle This should answer your question (that answer being No). ---------- Post added 25-12-2012 at 10:20 ---------- There is a link-around the world wet countries have much higher sea levels than drier ones. If 1 part in 1000 of river water is suspended crud that would suggest 3 billion tons of solid material enters the sea every hour from our rivers. jza80
I though it was people dumping shopping trolley and stuff in river /sea that is making sea level raise, why can we dig a deep hole or two to lower the level

Happ Hazzard
It's because as the population rises more people go swimming in the sea so the level rises. EDIT: More boats/ships as well.
