Meh, the only reason Jarvis Cocker got anywhere is cos apparently he's Joe Cocker's lad.

Anyone know anywhere you can legally download their songs? Preferably in WMA format as their site doesn't have any downloads yet :(

No, he got somewhere because he was good. Pulp were great, I agree not to everyones taste, but I liked them

What's Joe Cocker got to do with this?

Joe Cocker was big news in the 60s and 70s mate, and he's from Sheffield... Lived up Crookes iirc.

er.... well, Jarvis Cocker has always sung in his own accent, which is fairly and squarely Sheffield. Pulp never relied on hype, in fact they worked incredibly hard and in a very similar way to the arctic monkeys, i.e by playing live and building up a following, their only problem was that they predated the downloading scene which has allowed the a.m's to reach a wider audience incredibly quickly and effectively.

As to your accusation of pulp as 'embarrassing' , I think if you take a poll asking if people are 'embarrassed' by pulp, you wouldnt find many takers in the positive.

I like the arctic monkeys, they have shedloads of attitude, energy and great lyrics, and I can totally understand how 'the kids' are getting giddy about them, but as a bit of an 'older type' I've seen it all before, so it doesnt have the same impact for me now.
