TJC1
Make sure the phone is in original packaging. If orange give you any grief refer them to offcom.

alteredgemed
Just cancel the contract and inform Orange that they can send a courier for the phone if they want it back. Make sure you cancel the DD too.
martss
Sync it and as said take it to the Apple store, they'll swap it for you if there's a fault, take the new one home and restore from the last back up of the old one.
dan140177
i wouldn't take it to the apple shop, i'd cancel the contract that they're in breach of an go somewhere with proper customer care, you never know what else could crop up further down the line that they won't care about. the_rudeboy
Actually, if It's within the 14 day cooling off period, send phone by recorded delivery with letter detailing this. Cancel your dd.I thought cooling off periods only legally applied to distance selling and any cooling off period for phones bought in store are at the discretion of the store. They do have an obligation to sort the phone out though if it doesn't work properly.
Jeffrey Shaw
The shop has an obligation to REFUND the customer if the item does not work properly (i.e. not merely to fix it).
denlin
The shop has an obligation to REFUND the customer if the item does not work properly (i.e. not merely to fix it). Pay attention Jeffrey, it was free on contract but not all of them have cooling off period. Most do and I suggest OP reads their contract and then if there is 14 day cooling off period that they go back to shop and ask to speak to area manager or as other poster said, go to Apple as it is their product
Jeffrey Shaw
As you say, there's a contract; and the goods were defective; so the customer can return them and end the contract.
