percy filth
OK, this is not Graves Park or even Sheffield but here are a some German websites regarding storks, see if they resemble the bird seen in Sheffield. http://www.storchennest.de/en/index_index.php http://www.pfalzstorch.de/bilder/live1.html http://www.bn-ansbach.de/storchcam/storch.htm Its hard to tell from ground shots but this certainly looks the part. There was more out back than you get with a heron. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.birdsasart.com/rootjpegs/Sandhill-Crane-flash-flight-perfect-T-w-wing-_H2D3056-Bosque-Del-Apache-NWR,-San-Antonio,-NM.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.birdsasart.com/bn189.htm&h=431&w=650&sz=24&tbnid=lxHiOGAsZXpxfM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=136&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcrane%2Bin%2Bflight%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=crane+in+flight&docid=tdOpT4A9C8KWYM&sa=X&ei=lTqIT7_HE8LU0QXy77zcCQ&ved=0CDoQ9QEwAg&dur=2747 I saw it from directly underneath at a height of only 20 metres so it was pretty easy to see the scale of the thing. teeny
I actually think Herons are beautiful birds , when i lived in wakefield we used to see black herons which apparently are very rare, I haven't seen this one today though , but as i pass the spot daily i will keep a lok out and see if i can get a photo. DerbyTup
The Graves Park heron flies over our house twice a day - once in each direction. Definitely a heron, I've seen it by the pond. you are on the flight path to Manchester there though mate. Does this Heron have any writing on it? Shaney
My mum spotted a "heron" in her back garden this morning she said it was much bigger than the usual heron they look similar to a crane I believe. She lives just down from graves. She said "oh I saw't erron this morning" I replied who's Errin? I've had the same conversation with a friend of mine! I thought she said Errin!
