Bad gaseous smell - Neepsend Lane area

Travelled on neepsend lane twice this week 10 am ish and was met by a very strong acrid smell both times ( no fart jokes please ), there's gas equipment down there but it does not smell like natural gas, either way it did not smell like it would do you any good. Any ideas what it is.

I pass that area about the same time, and can always smell weed

This is different very strong like bad gas

That will be the hydrogen sulphide (H2S). It can only kill in large concentrations.

its from the old gas works there moving muck contaminated with gas oil tar etc to a land fill site in middlesborough does that answer your mick

Neepsend has always been smelly though.

There is the gas works and at the top of Parkwood Road is the big landfill site which can also smell especially in the summer months.
