I tend to think of exploitation as a bad thing. Like bullying or sex trafficking. The sort of "cretins" who tend to engage in such activities do so because they only value money. And have too few brains/scruples to value anything else.

Good point. Maybe we should be looking at Humanism. That seems to cherish the core human feelings and emotions as a way of aiding reason and agreement.

i'm inclined to agree. but i have a very ambivalent and strange relationship with money and possessions. my core 'feelings and emotions' would be based on anything but attaining money.

not sure that i could look down on someone who firmly believes their happiness would come from money. problem is they seem to thrive in the system we have. and any who question their motives look envious or bitter. and, yes, some are.

I'm the same way myself. I'm just not motivated by going after money. I have friends who have made it their all consuming passion. They have made a lot and are still totally miserable; more so since the promise hasn't brought the reality of contentment.

 

They seem almost stunned that surrendering their core values of integrity and human value to material bragging has resulted in an empty vapid waste ground of the soul.

 

They now try and do the "cash and carry spirituality" bit. Hoping that visiting Tibet or Bhutan will "magically" resurrect their flagging and flaccid emotional life.
