AJ sheffield
Is it not illegal anyway to leave a car running when its unattended, regardless of what is in it.
pcspb1
The offence is against S42 of the RTA 1988. This section deals with Construction & Use offences. Quitting is dealt with by Regulation 107(1) of The Road Vehicles (Constriction and Use) Regulation 1986 (SI 1986/1078 ) Regulation 107(2)(a). This states that no person shall cause or permit to be on any road any motor vehicle which is not attended by a person duly licensed to drive it unless the engine is stopped and the parking brake is effectively set. Exemptions to the requirements of this Regulation as to the stopping of the engine include a fire brigade vehicle, the engine of which is being used for any fire brigade purpose. That said, the offence of quitting should be the least of their worries if such an event were to happen again and be reported as an emergency while the officers were tucking into their bacon butties.... RootsBooster
Some of the BMW's that the armed response unit use in London have keyless start that cannot be driven more than about a hundred yards from whoever has the entry fob, not sure if the Volvo's use the same sort of device. Maybe thats what theyd done, pressed the sensor as they walked away but it didnt work? The keys were in it, look... The car engine was running and the keys were in it
PaymePal
I was trying to source a reason as to why this may have happened as its puzzled me all day. I had my window smashed once to reach something on the seat and i also have had two cars nicked so it just seemed bizarre...
