Becks37 Â Â 10 #49 Posted March 19, 2010 fallenangel, does that help with the bus's from Berkana ??? if not I will happly look it up for you. good luck for tomorrow again. Â Berkana, no I agree its not the best of places but hopefully once we all meet we can talk about where we can all get too, who drives, and can plan other places to meet, theres a great place in Woodhouse, great for first off lead, or Eckington (although a bit further afield has an enclosed field which is fantstic for this), I remember all the training we had to do with Cleo and her recall, she's good now but gosh did it take time, she was the same, wanted to say hello to everything But with so many people hopefully we'll all pick up some tips or advice along the way. Although, as this group may end up with a few dogs with 'issues' so to speak, it may be a good idea to keep them on lead to start with, we could easily end up problems letting them all off together. If the weather's not too nice it should be quiet at that time (fingers crossed)
 Share this content via...
maryjane   11 #50 Posted March 19, 2010 Well we all love Graves park and often walk there, but as you may have read my puppy has dislocated knees at the mo, having op on wednesday, she can still walk tho, just keeps falling over!! Berkana   10 #51 Posted March 19, 2010 Mine will be on lead until I think I can trust him, n when I do let him off it def won't be in Graves - the temptation will be far too much for him!! (He's a terrier cross and I think has some bearded collie in him.) I'll also muzzle him when he's off lead just to be on the safe side.  Ah, glad it's not just me who has the recall problems - and good to hear it IS possible for them to get over it! It's a bit of a nightmare... he's just been castrated so I've not even been able to put him on a tracker lead for over a week so no training's been happening... plus I've lost my bloody whistle so had to get a new one which sounds completely different to the other one  Anyway once I can get him to come back 100% on the tracker I think the group would be the perfect place for me to start recalling him when there's distractions around (still on lead)  The field in Eckington sounds great! So long as I can get to it by bus Also Woodhouse isn't that far from me and (I think) only one bus ride. Where abouts is it? Is it a park or similar that'd be labelled on a map?  FallenAngel, that's a shame that you couldn't have him, he was a sweet dog. Quite a strange looking one but cute all the same. Do you know which one he's gone to? I think a lot go to Mayflower and Millhouse? I know the bus goes from castle market if that's any use? I can't for the life of me remember where else it stops. I used to volunteer at the animal farm there so used to get the bus from there. If I can make it the first time you go I can always meet you in town n get the bus together so you'll know where to get off too. Oh and yep it's a First bus. Becks37 Â Â 10 #52 Posted March 19, 2010 will you be able to make it tomorrow Berkana? your boy sounds a lively mix looking forward to meeting him. I'm not sure whereabouts you live but I'm happy to drive if there's anywhere nere you you'd like to go, as with everyone else hopefully we can walk lots of different new places, I'm really looking forward to it, and there's nothing better for a dog than good new exciting smells. The field in Eckington might be a little tricky to get to on a bus but Woodhouse should be easier. its a nature reserve with lots of vareid walks and ponds (if you're dog likes swimming?) Â tried to put a link up but I'm rubbish! if you type on google maps, stone lane woodhouse thats the area
 Share this content via...
