I really wanted to listen to the test match on my trannie. In my youth trannie meant transistor radio but nowadays means something entirely different. After being excused I rather stupidly sprinted away and Jock summoned me back with the comment , " There's nothing wrong wi you laddie. Get your PE kit on. "  Slasher was the nickname for Ken Mackay an Aussie cricketer. Memories get faded with age,I bumped into Boris(Russian teacher) a couple of years ago who was in a bad way. Umpty-one   10 #111 Posted February 24, 2023 Sorry if I have just just screwed up the previous entry. I meaning to highlight how unusual it was to be able to have the opportunity to learn the Russian language at a time when international politics had created a demand for educated Russian speakers. I was discussing this recently with a chap who had first hand experience of this during his time of diplomatic dealings with Russia.
