Santa Claus is coming to town by bus

For the first time in 15 years, buses are operating on selected routes in Sheffield on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

 

On these days, single journeys are only £1 – wherever you go!

 

The full Christmas and New Year bus and tram schedule is below:

 

Wednesday 24 December – CHRISTMAS EVE

Buses: Last departures between 18.00 and 19.00hrs

Supertram: Last departures approx 18.30hrs

Trains: Last departures 20.00 – 20.30hrs

 

Thursday 25 December – CHRISTMAS DAY

No services

 

Friday 26 December – BOXING DAY

Buses: Services on selected routes (see below)

Supertram: Services on selected routes (see below)

Trains: No services

 

Saturday 27 December

Normal Saturday services

 

Sunday 28 December

Normal Sunday services

 

Monday 29 December

Buses: Saturday service (First and Stagecoach)

Supertram: Saturday service

Trains: Normal services

 

Tuesday 30 December

Buses: Saturday service (First and Stagecoach)

Supertram: Saturday service

Trains: Normal services

 

Wednesday 31 December – NEW YEAR’S EVE

Buses: Saturday service, last departures between 18.00 and 19.00hrs

Supertram: Saturday service, last departures approx 18.30hrs

Trains: Saturday service, last departures 20.00 – 20.30hrs

Buses: Services on selected routes (see below)

Trains: Normal services, except for some early morning trains cancelled (before 07:00)

Buses: Saturday service (Sheffield Stagecoach and Arriva), First (TBC)

Supertram: Saturday service

Half-hourly services:

52 Woodhouse – City Centre – Crookes

76 City Centre – High Green

41 City Centre – Crystal Peaks

14 Woodhouse – city section only

 

Hourly services:

11 City Centre – Stannington

14 Woodhouse – City Centre – Loxley

40 City Centre – Fulwood

47/48 Shiregreen – City – Herdings

51 City Centre – Lodge Moor

53 Ecclesfield – City Centre – Bradway

81/82 City Centre – Bents Green

97 City Centre – Totley

98 City Centre – Totley Brook

 

Supertram

Boxing Day services operating every 20 minutes between 07:30 – 19:30:

 

Yellow route Meadowhall – Cathedral – Middlewood

Blue route Meadowhall – Cathedral – Halfway

 

New Year’s Day services operating every 20 minutes between 10:30 – 17:30:

 

Yellow route Meadowhall – Cathedral – Middlewood

Blue route Malin Bridge – Cathedral – Halfway

 

Detailed timetables will be available from early December.

 

Boxing Day and New Year’s Day services are funded by Sheffield City Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

To be honest feel sorry for the bus drivers but then again I'm not someone who depends on public transport. At least I think we ought to give a big :thumbsup: to the drivers and a big THAN2 YOU:clap:

Daftlad you're really living up to your name. How can they be "idle gits" when they go to work.

what i mean is they have not worked these two days for the last 15 years and this is supposedly a customer service. i work in customer service and i have done most of my working life and have to work these days, why should a friggin bus driver be any different

Well, all those who said there should be buses on Boxing Day and New Years Day, make sure you actually use them and prove there is demand.

 

If these are successfull, then you never know, next year we may get buses on New Years Eve and Christmas Eve for the nights out.

Bout time the idle gits on the buses were told it is supposed to be a public service and work on these days

 

The buses are private businesses, not a public service.

 

If it pays to run the buses on those days, then they will run them. If it doesn't, they won't. This year of course it's the council thats doing the paying...

ill pass thanks . ill be out and about in my gas guzzling 4x4 ,which takes me where i want ,door to door and i can SMOKE:thumbsup:
