garrence   10 #25 Posted August 8, 2008 Who owns Merlin? I've seen a Rolls Royce parked outside their office in Crookes and assume it was something to do with them and not the co-op next door. And if it is, will the owner lose the roller?
 Share this content via...
Hepstall   10 #26 Posted August 8, 2008 contrary to what people think, its a good time to build, as so many of the big builders have laid staff off, they are in plentiful supply and the tenders are coming in lower as contractors compete for work.  There is a way of doing business in the construction industry, and at these times its usually those who have been sat on their cash over the past 5 years who will come out on top. You have a be a bit of a b'stard but ho-hum.
 Share this content via...
SadOwl   10 #27 Posted August 9, 2008 Are Merlin likely to be flogging off any land that might be suitable for self-build?  Sorry, that sounds a bit self interested, doesn't it.
 Share this content via...
SadOwl   10 #28 Posted August 11, 2008 Hear new rumors that they might be in financial difficulty.  Anyone know anything ?   Was sent this link today by a semi-anonymous benefactor  http://www.thestar.co.uk/business/Flats-developer-bid-to-beat.4376075.jp  Don't know if that's the full story. garrence   10 #29 Posted August 13, 2008 Right now there are two chaps standing outside Merlin's Crookes office with nicely printed placards.  The first reads "Some people are experiencing difficulty getting paid for work done for Merlin Estates"  The second, held by a chap in a security uniform, reads "Will you get paid if you work for this company?" SWEETSHOP Â Â 10 #30 Posted August 13, 2008 yes your right , ive actually spoken to them today , and they were security for the sites , they didnt pay the company and then deirdre kept promising them payment so they wouldNT pull off sites . when they said they couldnt go on any longer , she didnt pay , and is now making excuses that things went missing off sites .. she sounds a real scoundrel and do sheffield really need a company , like this doing development for them. she also owes thousands to ROBINSON CONSTRUCTION IN DERBY AND IT IS THEM WHO HAVE PUT THE WINDING UP ORDER ON THEM.. SHE ALSO OWES BUILDERS AND MUST HAVE COURT CASES ALL YEAR , the economy his hard hit enough without a company robbing off everybody who is trying to earn a living ,,, i think she will have to pay up soon has this is not good for any business who are meant to be building a better future.. Fellrunner   10 #36 Posted August 14, 2008 Merlin Estates are owned by Michael Boulding and his wife Deidrie. They operated as Boulding Industrial Supplies near Atlas Works on Carlisle Street in the 1980s and went bust there. They owed me £180 - so big deal! I learned from that, the bankrupcy papers later showed they owed nearly a million then which was huge in the 1980s. They avoided losing everything by putting things in her name, then they bought Castle Dyke House on Ringinglow Road, the place thet Naseem Hamed bought. They sold it to him. They then bought Beauchief Hall which was sold on, possibly to that other famous Sheffield bankrupt Hichcliffe! Michael Boulding's brother is Tom Boulding the landlord of Fagans pub on Broad Lane. It faces the now defunct development accross the road, funny old world .......
 Share this content via...
