Help please ive messed up big time!

my son has a asus eee pc laptop, i wanted to put windows xp on it because we dont like windows 7, the laptop has no cd drive so i formatted a usb 4gb memory stick using a thing called petousb, then i copied all xp files from the installtion disk with sp2 slipstreamed using a thing called win to flash or win flash... something like that! i put the usb into the laptop and it looked as if it was installing xp, then it came up with an error message and now everytime i boot up the laptop it says operating system cannot be found and wont do anything else, please please help, my son is going to be back from his nans later on and he is going to kill me! how do i get windows back on this laptop, i have 2 windows xp disk and 1 vista, all genuine with keys ect!

I guess it'll be possible to install windows from one of your original discs via a usb cd/dvd drive.

I always struggled getting XP working reliably from a USB.

I bought a USB DVD drive, much easier.

For a quick solution doesn't an eeepc have a recovery partition?

did you go into the settings and change the boot order and really why would you put xp on over windows 7 :loopy:

I always struggled getting XP working reliably from a USB.

I bought a USB DVD drive, much easier.

 

i havent got one of those and to be honest cant really afford one yet, any other way that the laptop can be fixed please!

where are you based Fallen? if your close to S6 then i would be happy to loan you a USB dvd drive for you to install windows from.

mmm not sure :huh: it wont go into it anyhow, when i boot it up it wont do anything! oh dear... what have i done!

As already mentioned,provided you havnt got rid of the hidden partition,there should be windows 7 hidden away to recover from.Google your laptop model including restore

some times its accessed by pressing f12 or similar on boot

what it had to do with me is that i have the same laptop with a usb dvd drive and recovery disk that you could have loaned but guess where you can shove that idea now :huh:
