Theresa May - What should she do in 3,5 years?

The next General Election will be in May 2020.

How earth is it in the country's interest to have one sooner ?

When the Tories all start Euro-squabbling again, she will need a clear mandate. And a majority of more than 16.

Two good reasons for her to call an election as soon as she can wangle it.

There is nothing for them to squabble over now the UK is leaving the EU. The Labour Party have over three years to sort themselves out and come up with an alternative to the Conservative's in 2020. They should make good use of that time.

You've obviously not followed the Tories and the European issue very carefully. Believe me, Brexit will provide a very fertile ground for them to argue, scheme and fall out. They always do.

The tiny majority makes that even more likely. I think she'll go to the country early next year.

My feeling so far, this is all a charade, these roles were determined in the days after the 24th of June, the whole 'candidate for PM' theatre was a play to ensure May got in. Leadsom was the lamb to the slaughter.

You are joking right?

Leadsom & May cut a deal with Cameron & the rest before the referendum.

It was all a massive cherade, as most Tory dealings are.

People are so stupid sometimes!

You seem to be imagining that we have a world where the Labour MPs take any notice of their party leader.

You seem to be unable to read my post and interpret it correctly.

No surprise there though:rolleyes:

I see that it's being reported that May sent Gideon Osborne off with a flea in his ear to the backbenches pretty sharpish. I would love to have seen that sneer being wiped off his smug face as he was given his marching orders....
