  1. just because on benefits doesnt mean that we cannot have a car...the car was bought by my hubbys dad ..i know in hindsight we should have got permission but with parking issues..and vandelism on the increase putting the car where we can see it seemed like a good idea at the time.in hindsight we should not have done it.
  2. i am well aware about planning permission...there should be concessions for those on a low income...wanting to have a dropped kerb but cannot afford to do so.im looking into the cost of this at the moment.
  3. we live in rotherham.the street where we live has a high incidence of theft and vandelism..not to mention nowhere to park.we took our edge out and dug out front garden..and put a gravel path down.my husband has a classic car which he parks on the driveway only to solve parking issues..its his pride and joy.i noticed several people on my rd have done the same thing as us and have no dropped kerb.we have been told by the council we are to stop using our driveway for our car because we have not had permission to put one in and we should apply to the council for permission.this is costly and we cannot afford this...we would gladly apply to have one put in if we were offered a payment plan of some kind to be put on our weekly rent.nobody on my rd are having any problems with the council..it seems we are being singled out.i know we should have a dropped kerb..but to me i dont think there is any harm parking our car on our drive where we can keep our eye on it at all times.
  4. we are not rude to people at the door we are allways polite...we just think that its a inconvieniance as many people do who get these calls on a regular basis.not everyone is abusive..just plain sick and tired.lets put it another way if i want something to buy i go out and buy it..i dont need to be pressurised into buying something i do not want.
  5. dont you just hate it when canvassers come to the door, especially at night when its dark and you are settling in for the night at the front of your tv.i imagine its pretty scary for the eldery and those who live alone.i think there should be a law against these pests to stop them from knocking on peoples doors.charity workers are the worst wanting bank details etc.i always tell them i donate online.that seems to get rid of them.
