  1. Been to quite a few of the gigs there. Some of them were , let's say " colourful ". They were so loud my ears used to be ringing for a couple of days after!. Used to bloody love it !, and those scraps after closing time, well they were part of the nights entertainment , it wouldn't have been the same without it. I remember at one bit they had a go-go dancer as well, ( i'm not sure if she was topless or not). She wasn't very good & everybody used to take the proverbial out of her. She didn't let it bother her though. Just got on with it, took her money & turned up the next week to do it all again. Ah, to be as wild as i was back then, heaven.
  2. Wow, Applegrim, you sound really down at the moment & tired out as well. I don't know your personal circumstances, but is there nowhere you can get a bit of help, even if it's just for a few hours a week. Get in touch with social sevices at Redvers House. They should be able to help you (or tell you where you can get some help.) You won't be able to look after anybody if you end up worn out & ill yourself. You sound like you desparatley need some help. Please try to get some, we all need help at times.
  3. Cheers. Love the one with the hole in the road. C & A, used to call it coats n ats. Had a Saturday job there when i was at school. Also that first new picture ( view from Kelvin Flats ), that reminded me of a pub we used to go in every Friday night on Infirmary Rd. I think it was called The George. Had a few good nights in there , i can tell you.
  4. Thanks, i will look forward to that. I enjoy looking at old photograph's of how Sheffield & it's people lived & worked. But it's much more enjoyable when you can actually remember being at the places in the photgraph's themselves. It makes it even more interesting.
  5. The midwife told me to allways put some music on when getting my baby off to sleep. Or say, if the baby was asleep in the crib and alone in a room. Apparantly , they can sense being alone and the background music helps to soothe them. She also told me a baby can hear it's mothers voice, music, etc, etc, while in the womb, so silence is not something they are used to. Oh, and to make sure the room temperate wasn't too hot or stuffy as well. May babies also liked me to stroke their little faces & eyebrows, it allways had them off to sleep in no time at all.
  6. Have just looked at those great phot's. A great collection. Brought back a lot of memories for me, both happy & sad. I was brought up on Park Hill Flats, but my family lived on Hyde Park, Wybourn, Talbot Rd ( all around that area). If bricks & mortar could speak eh ?. There's a lifetime of memories in those photo's for many people. Thanks for giving me the oppotunity to look at them & reminice on times gone by.
  7. She might be related to Vicky Pollard. yeh but, no but, urr, Sounds just like her to me.
  8. Ignore her.! She's trying it on ,trust me i am a woman, i know these things. For a start she sounds off her trolly. Everything else is basically c**p. She can't prove the stuff in her garden belongs to you can she? & if the previous people did it why has she waited to ask you to move it instead of them. It's on HER property, not yours. Hence HER resposibility. And you can do what you want with your own garden, bins & anything else. What you do on your property is YOUR buisness & there's nothing she can do about it. Try ignoring her demands (politely), and then if she carries on tell her in a nice, but firm way .that if she does not stop this harssment that YOU will report Her to her landlord. See if she like's that one. In the meantime enjoy your new home and take no notice of this woman.
  9. Pyramid Carpets at Woodseats. Reasonable prices, but also there's a room full of roll ends ( all different sizes ) & these are even cheaper. Perfect for what you want it for. Good Hunting.
  10. Sounds lovley Give the Sheffield Star a ring. Cheeky gits !. I can't believe they had the nerve to charge you anything. And if it's as bad as that it's a health hazzard to everybody ( especially in this heat ). People need to be warned about places like this, they should not be in buisness. Thanks for the warning, i will make sure my family steer well clear of the place.
  11. My daughter had hers done a couple of years ago, & i have got to say i think it looks great. She didn;t have any problems with it healing up either. just did what it told her on the aftercare leaflet she was given. By the way, this part of the ear IS NOT supposed to be done by a gun anymore, but by needle. It was found that the gun was not suitable for this part of the ear as it could totally smash the cartiledge in it. Health & Saftey now recommend this part of the ear to be done by needle only. Go for it., it will look great.
  12. IBS Otherwise known as the I'm Baffled Syndrome !!. Only joking guy's. The treatment does seem to be peppermint, my doctor prescribed them for me. After many more months of pain, bloatedness, vomiting etc, etc, it was decided to send me for tests. Result's; inconclusive, then ? hang on, they knew, yes you all guessed it , it's stress they say. Take the peppermint and try Yoga. Six months later i look like a bleeding polo mint crossed with quasimodo's aunty cause of the sodding Yoga AND still got the dodgy tum. Back to doctor's, scream at him that if he don't sort me out i'm gonna turn up every month , just as the PMT is at it's peak, and scream his surgery down. ANSWER, you definatly are stressed aren't you ? Stressed, me stressed, whatever gave him that idea with the fantastic help & advice he had given me.
  13. My daughter went to Cuba last year at the begining of November. She went on an all inclusive holiday to the resort of Varadaeo (hope i spelt that right). She looked amazing when she came home. I have never seen her with such a good tan. From what she told me ,plus looking at the photo's it is just like pradise. Hotel, fantastic, clean, food good & plentiful . Alchohol, lots of it (;clap;).Lovley friendly people, nightlife & entertainment to suit most peoples tastes. She also went on a couple of trips. The most enjoyable one for her was swimming with the dolphin's (£70.00). She has got a great photo of herself and a dolphin is resting it's snout on her shoulder, wow, i would love to do that myself one day. There are loads of old classic American cars out there, plus as somebody else allready mentioned trips to Havana itself. Go for it & enjoy
  14. Delboy3 contributed nothing constructive to the debate. When he realised he couldn't back up what he was saying with facts he resorted to personally insulting Redrobbo. Like many people of low intelligence , he resorted to throwing insults. The only person he managed to make look stupid was himself with his idiotic rantings. I think Redrobbo deserves a bit of respect ( just the same as we all do) , and this man had no right to come on here and throw insults at him. I was glad the MODS pulled it , 'cause reading it was starting to wind me up as well grrrr!.
  15. I am amazed by some of the things i have read on this thread. I thought we had progressed in our understading of homosexuality, but obviously there are still the die hards who refuse to believe anything except their own closetted & unfounded beliefs. Right, I am mid 40's, married , 3 kids. And i do NOT have a problem with homosexuality or gay people themselves. They are no different in any way, be that physically or mentally than the rest of us. the only difference is that they are attracted to & fall in love with people of the same sex as themselves. They love their partners just like the rest of us do.It's not just about sex. To be honest, i get sick of hearing people "gay bashing". I'm sure they do it 'cause they've got nothing else to do with their time. To all you gay people out there, stand tall & proud you will be around a lot longer than the bigots who condem you.
