  1. Zuegma on London road is very nice, probably the best restaurant in Sheffield, not too expensive either. or as its monday, you could show her some real sheffield culture at the all you can eat at dempseys
  2. Did you know that every single person who has EVER drunk water has either died or will die?
  3. put in a free tram and bus to a large free out of town parking area that would help... offer free rents to new businesses for the first 6 months, that should reduce the number of ugly empty units
  4. If you want an internet dongle, your best bet is either the T-mobile or orange shop, they have the cheapest pay and go plan at £30 for three months... or if you want a contract one you can get an unlimited sim plan for £27 or with a smartphone, such as an I phone with unlimited internet and calls for £32 from the O2 shop
  5. Offered Area: Brinsworth - S60 5JA Type of Property: FLAT Number of Bedrooms: 1 Landlord: RMB Council Any other information: This is a nice flat, fully carpeted (except in the kitchen and bathroom!) in a quiet area, near bungalows and parks. Rent, Council Tax, and Water rates are lower than Sheffield City Council It has lots of built in storage, is close to the shops, and has a box room that could easily be used as a kids bedroom (I use it as a study) Wanted Area: Sheffield Centre (anywhere within 10 min walking distance of fargate and the moor! (Parkhill, broomhall, oxford street, edward street, any Sheffield considered) Type of Property: any Number of Bedrooms: any Landlord: prefer council Any other information: I have a very nice flat, but I want to move as I don't drive, and I want to be closer to friends.
  6. I would avoid it and go for one of the nicer, but less in demand ones somewhere such as gibson works, or the development on bramall lane
  7. and btw, even middle class families in India and Pakistan all live together in one room, its just a cultural thing, and I think it would work well here. Giving people extra privileges because they are from an eastern country is the sort of Gurniad reading PC fascism that gives the bigots fire for their xenophobia, and helps them convert new followers to the cause.
  8. If you have a council house with a dining room, will you still be classed as under occupied, as it can easily be used as a bedroom?
  9. I thank my lucky stars that In am in a council flat, it is a one bed, and unfortunately it isn't in Sheffield, (with its legendary waiting list.) I do think that the council should offer incentives to make people downsize when they don't need the space, but there should be a carrot as well as a stick (such as a decorating grant for the tenant who is downsizing.) But with the longest social housing waiting list in the country I can't see it happening. The idea of a single person being CAPPED at £350 per week in HB blows my mind, £350 per week!!! You can rent a roomy flat in velocity towers for much less than that! It just shows how many opportunistic unscrupulous private landlords are out there, but take DSS - and so charge whatever they like - although I thought it was capped at the local area HB rate, and the tenant has to pay the difference. Even in West Kensington, (a rather nice area of London, where I was considering moving to) housing benefit caps are nowhere near that level for a single person.
  10. they have referees in all sports, but in snooker they use video replays etc to make sure its all fair, not as contentious as football fouls / offsides...
  11. Are you just playing devils advocate, or do you really believe what you are saying? You think that paying over £3 for a pint is reasonable? I expect to pay that price for a real cask ale / cider, in the rutland/sheaf view/sheffield tap, but I begrudge paying it for bog standard lager or beer. but the price of crap beer has steadily crept up everywhere... and its all tax! I just wish wages were climbing at the rate of beer inflation. Since I was 18 the cost of a pint has doubled, but wages have gone up about 20%, I have cause to moan! If I go to Dempseys I usually drink wine, even though its nasty cat piddle echo falls. (they should get a decent range of wines, there are lots of cheaper and tastier ones out there.) or I resort to buying a bottle of Lambrini - because it's still the cheapest and trashiest way to get drunk!
  12. yeah, people pay it through lack of choice but nobody's happy about it
  13. I'll say it again... ...we could set up our own LGBT society... charge £1 lifetime membership have regular house parties that are byob and allow indoor smoking!
  14. yes but if you sell 10 pints at a £1 profit and 30 pints at a 50p profit which earns you the most money? (or sell 0 pints at zero profit) and you can't get past the fact that people don't go in, because its empty,
  15. what about Canada, Australia, Malta, and Saudi Arabia, they all have players in the top rankings...
  16. I just asked if you thought it would be good for sheffield... not do you like snooker... and what about syncronised swimming, dancing on ice, showjumping,... since when was that a sport?
  17. I was just having some fun. PS Sheffield is awesome...
  18. they should do it for free if you report it, but they take ages to come out
  19. if they have the same amount of support and skill involved maybe...
  20. If we had snooker in the olympics would it be good for sheffield with all the publicity that snooker brings to the city? Here is a petition to make snooker an olympic sport http://www.thepetitionsite.com/992/448/987/petition-to-make-snooker-an-olympic-sport/
  21. we could set up our own LGBT society... charge £1 lifetime membership have regular house parties that are byob and allow indoor smoking!
  22. Dempseys still has karaoke on a weds it has for about ten years! £2.50 still isn't cheap I pay that for a pint in my favorite gay pub in London! and the courtyard pubs in leeds - its a £1 a pint during the day and they have magners on draught On canal street is a busy bar that does £6 bottles of NICE wine all day and night.
  23. http://www.vas.org.uk/ good for any volunteering roles
  24. What??? Before I turned 25 (so I didn't get tax credits) I worked full time on minimum wage paid my bills my rent my council tax put £25 a week in the bank, to save for holidays or emergencies and had about £25 per week spending money, that includes food I was walking distance from work, if I had needed to catch the bus, that would have left me with less than a tenner spending money, including food money, per week - I wouldn't have had any savings. so tell me, what is wrong with minimum wage?
