I came back to Sheffield this weekend for the first time in a while and saw the new Sainsbury's on Division St. As other posters have said there's little the Council can do due to the existing planning consent on the building - and there isn't scope in planning law to stop Sainsbury's opening another store just because there are already other stores in the same chain nearby. Similarly, as the building was previously a pub Wetherspoons could have easily opened another one there, even though it's just down from the Water Works/Benjamin Huntsman. Agree about the ubiquitousness of chains but there are still plenty of independent shops on Division St and the side streets, especially the various clothing shops.

It's pretty good and you can bring your own beers from the Dram Shop over the road!

Cycled up Charter Row about an hour ago - looked like an industrial unit behind Stokes Tiles and Hodgson Street was cordoned off.

and possibly in big ASDA too.

Hi Rich I'd recommend you buy one - even if from eBay/second-hand. You'll probably want to wear a tux at least once more in your life and generally the cost of two hires is equal to or more than buying one.

UK Mama (African/Caribbean) in Broomhill - the owner always comes out to chat (and the food is fantastic). Downside of this is that service is somewhat "relaxed", don't go if you're after a quick bite to eat!

If anyone can help with this I'd be much obliged: Which are the nearest streets to the casino/roller rink on Queens Road where you can park free all day on Saturday (ie not permit/meter areas) If not, is it possible to park at Meadowhall for the day and get the tram to/from town or are there restrictions on how long you can stay? Cheers in advance

Plenty of free parking in the side streets between Arundel Gate and the station/Granville Road, after 6pm so handy if you're in town for evening

Don't think it's either of those - got Peak online and it was different. The only reason I asked is because there haven't been any jingles/chat in the last hour, else I would have known! Could it be a pirate/local station that you can only get in Sheffield? Also it isn't Burngreave Community Radio or Sheffield Live.

I've already looked on Google - cheers Allen but that website's only funny when the Google results are obviously what you're after. And it's not Peak FM.
