  1. Hi I am looking for a place in Sheffield or anywhere near Wincobank/M1where we can go and pick up a nice quality metal garden arch. Preferably either galvanised steel or wrought iron. We dont want to pay over the odds, but at the same time don't want a tubular metal one that will rust in the space of a year Or so. I would normally love the idea of trawling the garden centres looking for one, but we are quite pushed for time this year. Thank in advance xx Glenys
  2. This year I have struggled to get wi-fi on any of the busses in Sheffield. Has it been withdrawn, or do the drivers not turn it on?
  3. Going to the weigh and pay in town today, and wondering if dogs are allowed. We are trying to get our seven month old puppy out with us as muchas possible.
  4. Does anyone know about the fire near NGH today? Is it going to affect travel round there overnight into the Morning?

  6. Thanks for the tips :-) We wnt to the centre you suggested and got a few bits - chard, runner beans, turnip, purple broccolli, - we are going to have fun :-) ---------- Post added 05-07-2016 at 21:14 ---------- Chez we already have some fruit trees, a peach and an apple, amongst others - we have managed to get NINE apples in our second year from a plant we bought unlabelled in the reject section for a fiver. Hopefully it will soon start paying for itself, ;-) We also have currants and berries. Hubby is just cooking some tayberries (so easy to grow) to make a fruit coulis, so the house smells lovely. Thanx all :-)
  7. I know where that is, in fact I thought about carrying on to there yesterday, but we ran out of time and motivation. Thats great to know, thanx sibon :-)
  8. Any tips on growing Salsify in the current Sheffield Climate please? I have some seedlings to transplant into our new raised bed, and have never done these before. Thanx G
  9. Can anyone tell me where we can still buy vegetable seedlings or small plants, ready to transplant into our new raised bed, please? We went to two nurseries on Loxley Road yesterday, but both had got too late in the season for stocking them. We managed to get a couple of pepper plants, and that was it Thanx G
  10. Hi, just been through attercliffe earlier and went through some sort of celebration on Staniforth Road. There were firecrackers going off at the town end of the road, at the side of the street, and there appeared to be a procession of cars going down there from Darnall - all with their hazard lights flashing. Twas interesting indeed, and got the idea it was maybe a wedding as there were loads of people outside one of the fairylight lit buildings on there. The firecrackers were a bit risky though, and it was overseen by a policeman on a bike, but all in all looked like it was a happy event. Does anyone know what this occasion was :-)
  11. Malin bridge school siren tests used to scare me witless :-/
  12. Yes - I am also looking for a good car boot tomorrow (Bank holiday Monday) please :-)
  13. Does anyone know if there is still a shop in Firth Park that sells printer inks. I have looked on Google Earth but the images was dated as august last year, but don't recall seeing it today when I passed through there (mind you, I wasn't particularly looking ;-)). If only I had been able to read the future and know that my printer was going to run out of ink tonight, with an important print job to be done :-/ ......... Thanx :-)
  14. Try Freegle Sheffield. There is nearly always some post giving away old consoles/computers etc
  15. I worked in a plastic welding company for only a few months in the late 1980s. I had been employed as a printer, only to find out that the printer had decided to stay, so I was moved into the "welding" room, assembling ring binders on a machine that gave me a large static electric shock every time I put a piece of vinyl sheet in the bloody machine.....around 50 times a minute :-/ I complained so was moved to the box assembly line, where I cut my fingers to ribbons on the packing tape cutter instead :-( After realising that it was abnormal to be using my well earned coffee breaks just to sit crying on the toilet, I walked out!
  16. Have a look on Freegle, a local freecycle type site. People are always giving old video films away on there. Also there are some Facebook pages with local giveaways on them. https://directv2.ilovefreegle.org/explore/10 XG
  17. Thanks for the prompt replies. It will be a lot cheaper to park than go on bus (it will cost 2 of us £8 in total on the bus :-( ) and there will be a walk, so £1 aint all that bad after all. I think there is a car park on Broad lane somewhere. XXG
  18. Hi All I need to go into the NHS walk-in centre on Broad lane today, and was wondering if it is still free parking in the City Centre on Sundays? Thanks :-)
  19. Well, I have got to the stage where I haven't got the time or good health to be able to set up stalls at craft fairs any more, so was wondering if there were any shops out there where I could best display my wares, please. Primarily bead jewellery. I have sold in quite a few shops before, many years ago, but those shops have all gone now, as trends change :-/ Thanks Glenys
  20. Now the Beavis Vs Parking eye thing has happened, how would I stand with an Excel PCN I have just received for parking behind the shops at Banner Cross. I arrived at 18:50, and the ticket was issued later. Meanwhile I was in one of the shops who pay the landlord for the spaces, where I was assured that after 6:00 pm, the parking company would not issue any notices, so I didnt bother with a permit from the shop. I have proof I was there in the premises, as I took photos of the events held there on my phone. The people in the shop say there shouldnt be a problem as I can can phone their manager tomorrow and she would forward it on to the appropriate people. After I caught wind of the Beavis and Parking eye court case the other day, I started worrying, although I havent read it yet - I find I get confused easily with things like that. Have things changed enough because of this for me to be worried?
  21. Hi I am Glenys, and I am a jewellery maker (beadweaving and stringing) wanting to find an outlet - sale or return - in Sheffield or surrounding area, please. I have been doing craft fairs for a while now, but due to health reasons, am finding it difficult, so need to go back to my original business plan, selling in retail outlets. I have a good range of stock, which you can see here on my facebook page, and have sold successfully in Sheffield before, and I am willing to visit your shop with stock for you to look at first with no obligation. https://www.facebook.com/adage01?fref=ts I also sell photographic related gifts (cards prints etc) but am really wanting to clear my stock of jewellery at the moment :-) Glenys Everest Adage Jewellery Sheffield
  22. Thanx Timeh I got one from there - not a bad price for their own brand :-) XG
