  1. It was called The Cube & I used to DJ there. Proper underground club, very seedy. Even though it was unlicensed it was allowed to remain open for quite some time.
  2. Come on over to Bramall Lane love. It's near town so there's not much travelling to be done & all the Unitedites will welcome you with open arms. You can even go home after & tell all your friends you've just been to the world's oldest major football ground. Like them Wednesday fans say we've never won bugger all - well not for nearly 80 years but we've kept our sense of humour & we all like to have a good laugh at where Wednesday are now. Yes, get yourself to 'Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane'. You'll love it.
  3. No one is forced to claim JSA. When someone makes a claim to JSA they are told what their obligations & responsibilities are in order to remain eligible. Fail to meet these eligibility conditions & you lose the benefit. You disagree with this? Fair enough write to your MP & let him have your concerns but don't blame the jobcentre staff they don't make the rules. Once you've been in receipt of JSA for 6 months then you become eligible for whole host of additional help like training courses & work experience. If you've previously been in receipt of sick or disabled benefits then you'll be eligible for even more help & support from specialist advisers. The help & support is there it's up to you to make use of it. Unless that is you want someone to tap you on the shoulder & offer everything on a plate. Loser.
  4. Yeah that's right. The board at the time wouldn't approve a £200000 bid for maradona even though personal terms had been agreed with the player. Wednesday on the other hand actually HAD Eric Cantona .. but let him go .. saps!!!
  5. Hoof & run? Clearly you don't go to Bramall Lane very often. That's not to say we don't play the long ball .. Utd under Warnock have developed a reputation as a fine passing side who can adapt their game as & when it's required. As for Warnock being a disrepectful idiot I've never seen or heard him pass derogatory public comments about another persons character or personality .. unlike you! Sheffieldfox .. shame you didn't visit Bramall Lane last year when YOUR team played. Foxes lost 2-1 BTW.
  6. Nathaniel Creswick was one of the two founder members of Sheffield FC and was a solicitor. Sheffield FC were formed 24th October 1857 at a meeting held at Parkfield House in Highfields. This was the home of Harry Water Chambers, another solictor, who for some reason despite his pivotal role did not appear on the original committee. He did however become club secretary at a later date and was the Club's representative at the meeting in London which led to the formation of the Football Association in 1863. Another solictor Thomas Pierson was a member of the original committee as was Frederick Ward, son of a past master Cutler Thomas Asline Ward, who was the Club's first president. The two vice-presidents were TA Sorby & Joseph Ellison, like Ward prominent local manufaturers and the committee also included Tom Vickers, a leading steelmaking figure. Vickers together with another Sheffield FC member JC Shaw went on to found Hallam FC.
  7. Try taking a stroll down the five weirs walk. You'll be amazed at how tranquil it can seem even though you can hear the hum of the city in the background and catch ocassional glimpses of heavy industry.
  8. Just off Chesterfield Rd .. around or near Artisan View .. try that. You'll never take your car anywhere else.
  9. Excellent. Build bigger ones in Sheffield and we can add to the 'Sheffield Superlatives' thread!!
  10. And as for them Cistercian monks that founded Fountains Abbey. HOW DARE THEY! They mined lead and other minerals scarring our sacred countryside. Not content with digging and probing they constructed monstrous walls to split and divide the land. They abolished ancient rights of way. They dug channels to divert the natural course of rivers. They infested the grasslands with sheep upsetting the natural and delicate ecology of the land. All this, and more, they did with no regard to those people already living in the lands they seized. The building of a few wind turbines overlooking a posh Sheffield suburb pales into insignificance. Our maybe the people complaining about this emminently sensible plan would rather renewable energy be provided from a place that wouldn't spoil their view.
  11. Monsal Head is too far South only viable route would be to follow A57 Snake Pass. And this is why they don't do it .. http://www.vlec.freeserve.co.uk/snake/
  12. I think this is a brilliant idea to improve the national Infrastructure. We could even have special trams that carried freight only. Maybe they could run on the old train tracks. The old railway viaduct and tunnel at Monsal Head .. what line was that on .. could it be reopened?
  13. Is the land being cleared for Hallam University use? Some sort of Technology Park. If they also demolished the Roxy Nightclub that could also be a major city centre redevelopment for a new landmark building. Maybe another 'Gull wing' bulding to add grace and symmetry.
