Anybody in sheffield break cars?
barnesjimo1 replied to fandango's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
My Daughter usually does a good job -
Every time I read comments such as those by barnesjimo1 I'm reminded of a couple of monty python sketches - the yorkshiremen one (get up at 4am, two hrs before we went to bed, lick the road clean and paying for the priveledge of living in a shoebox in the middle of the road), and the holy grail one where the peasants are scrabbling about digging filth Always look on the bright side of life

Can Anybody Ever Remember The Smog In Sheffield?
barnesjimo1 replied to Rampent's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I can remember coming home on leave from Merchant Navy 1968 on the train from London (paid for with a rail warrant) For some reason I came in from Rotherham side? but any way you could see it getting darker with heavy smog and could smell Sheffield, but it was still good to come home after 7 months -
E-lites: where can I get them besides Morrisons?
barnesjimo1 replied to Touchwood's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If all else fails go get 20 Benson & Hedges -
When will it open ? 2033 was mentioned I will be 82 by then and wont be able to afford a rail ticket to London if im still around, My kids probably wont be able to afford to use it either. So the question is who is the bloody thing for? We may pay for it through taxes etc, but probably out of average Joe's range of spending power. In the mean time increase the fares on rail to help build it as less people can afford to use it, unless you can claim expenses like poloticians that we pay for in the end. Admit it its another good kicking for average Joe who is being told it's good for him/her. Next step get all the disabled and unemployed together and hire them some picks and shovels and a good marching song should help towards the new lines at least. What a joke.
