No one has been shot or anything like that? The star hasn't reported anything yet, perhaps they will. The police did look as though they were looking for something, and looked quite stern. They were stood next to the Potatos last I saw

Saw a police car going into the car park at Morrisons at Ecclesfield, two policemen got out and then walked into morrisons. I didn't want to follow, but they appeared to be looking for something near the fruit and veg section. Any idea whats happened?

To the idiots that drive on the mad mile/A57.

Out of interest, how do they flash you when overtaking? surely this comes into the laws of decency and indecent exposure - not to mention dangerous when driving -
Is this method as effective as the old tried and tested method, a method used used frequently up until the last century (i.e 1999) YOu eat your food - you then move about a little - weight comes off. Kids used it in the 1980s, ate food, then went out to play. Is this modern voodoo stuff as effective as the old fashioned 'get off your bottom and move around'?

Sheffield city with 3rd highest rate of private insolvency
bobbie replied to Cyclone's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
At a guess - why we are so high on the list. 1) People who are in work, have very poor paying jobs/ 2) People with higher paid jobs, probably have to commute to leeds 3) High Unemployment 4) Plus it will get worse when our Army of civil servants loses their jobs in 2011 5) Sheffield is full on 10 bob millionaires. In the olden days, we were a working class city, and people were generally working class. These days people like to pretend to be what they are not, spending lots of money on credit cards and not having enough money to pay ot back. Say what you like about the old industries, they paid decent wages -
Its a grim time for any young person who decides that "I'm going to do something with my life" University For a young person who decides to educate themselves, they will end up with a debt of around £40,000 whne they finish their courses. The courses themselves are often very poor quality and do not prepare the young for the world of work. Working and housing Many jobs do not pay anywhere near enough for an 18 year old of today, a wage they can use to save up for a deposit on a home. Thanks to the 40something generation who kept saying "I want this", "I want that", "my employer should pay for this", "I got my rights" etc.......jobs are now temporary, and many young people are unlikely to get stable employment. Employees of the future appear to commute ever more to get to their place of work, taking time and more petrol - people will say buy a home near where you work, however the more employment in a town, the higher the house prices Doing the right thing An 18 year old of today, who chooses to live by the law will be financially hammered for doing so. Take car insurance, a law abiding hard working 18 year old who chooses to purchase a cheap runaround, will have to pay £3000 to insure that car. An 18 year old who chooses to work, will also get hammered with taxes/indirect taxes and will be left with very little of the money they have worked hard for. Who would be 18 years old now?

So if he/she uses their parents car, then what car will the parent drive if the youth has used their car? In some instances, a car is essential. If a 17 year old was to get a job in a factory, and work funny shifts, punlic transport is not an option, simply because it does not operate to meet the needs of some shift workers. For some young people who choose to work, a car is a necesity.

Ministry for Reproduction says "Breed younger, its healthier"
bobbie replied to chem1st's topic in General Discussions
OK, a serious answer. Many under 30s who work, do not bring in enough after tax income to provide for themselves. Many need to live in shared accomodation, or if they do take on a mortgage, need 2 full time wages to meet basic living costs. Yes, 30 years ago, it was feasable to have a family when you were under 30, a mans wages would meet the costs of a family, and back in 1984 the average house price was £24,000. Today it is over £160,000 General outgoings, cost of fuel (and insurance which I highlighted on another thread), tax etc... means your average under 30 in full time employment is unlikely to have enough spare cash to afford to purchase their own home. I can see the problem only getting worse, as the expenses that todays 18 year olds have to meet is dire, the increase in student fees for any young person who does decide to do something with their life, given the fact that the country is broke and there are fewer and fewer real job opportunitys. Putting off the kids until a later age will become the norm. Alternatively, we could simply fund a section of our society who never work, pay them to breed like wildfire and provide them with enough money so they never have to work, thats the only solution. Or import people to breed and not work. Thats the only way to increase the birth rate. If you expect the working class to start having kids forget it, they can't afford to -

If everyone did take a stand and stopped paying for this legalised theft, then something would have to be done. How many years can you as a person pay another 60% on top of your premium, when does it get too much? 2011, 2012, 2013 ???? what percentage of your net wages is acceptable to pay for this? HOw many more years can we blame icy conditions in winter for massive hikes in insurance? how many more years do we have our premiums hiked, simply because of car crime that the police can't seem to do anything about? What about an 18 year old? how on earth can £3000 ever be justified when the car bought is less than £400. My own insurance is actually more that what it was when I was 17 years old (I paid £450 then in 1991, I now pay over £700) On that basis, an 18 year old of today, would be paying £6000 by the time they get to 35 years old, on the basis that they have 75% no claims (as I do). There comes a time when financially it costs too much, and you do away with the insurance. For those who say "well your car will be crushed", I say "well fair enough, if it takes 5 years for mr to get caught, then £765 x 5 years =£3825 - which will put towards the cost of the next uninsured car
-
What percentage of your income are you prepared to give to car insurance? 5% 10% 25% Like I said in my post, I have never been stopped as I never draw attention to myself, and I have never claimed insurance. I'm sick of paying more to subsidise people who.......... Drive uninsured People who can't drive in winter People having accidents Car Crime - why can't this be dealt with? Insurance is making fools out of law abiding people. In some areas of Sheffield, you cannot get insurance as your area is an insurance blackspot
