  1. A brief look at their respective track records would suggest that a Catholic priest is far more likely to be a malign influence in a child's life than a transgender person! I see you shiver with antici.....
  2. Has this person in the past drawn some fetish pictures - yes Were they ever in any way related to the Assigned Male webcomics - no Are they related to the book that this tour is promoting - no Are they in any way going to be related to this talk - no Has the DM put 2 and 2 together and come up with 2222222222 and are now using faux outrage about a non story to whip up the gullible and reactionary and raise their circulation? Well it is the DM; that's pretty much their raison d'etre...
  3. I've been offered a speed awareness course rather than points and I'm trying to find out the local venues (apparently I can go on one anywhere in the UK so shouldn't be limited to just SYP area venues) but I can't find a list of venues anywhere 😕 Anyone know if such a list exists or of the venues on the south side of Sheffield?
  4. London has the highest level of immigration in the country and it voted stay. It actually looks more like the places (in England at least) with the lowest immigration were more likely to vote leave. It appears that people are scared of the bogeyman of immigration rather than the reality.
  5. The areas of England that voted leave were by and large those with low immigration (and coincidentally high levels of structural support from the E.U.) where areas with higher immigration have tended to vote remain.
  6. Has anyone had any work done by Hmp Bespoke Construction Limited? I'm told they specialise in timber frame work and extensions and what I've seen of their work looks very good but I was wondering if anyone had any direct experience? Thanks in advance!
  7. I'm looking at some flats being built on Figtree Lane in the city center at the moment. Does anyone know what it's like to live in that area? I'm used to the relatively quiet 'burbs at the moment!
  8. Perhaps the 40s is when you start to see serious health concerns rearing their heads? (e.g. prevalence of coronary heart disease comparing the 20-39 bracket with the 40-59 bracket goes up about 10-fold) Before that age serious illnesses are most likely congenital afterwards they start to be physical decline. As a large chunk of the male self identity is based on strength and physical health this possibly hits men harder than women? Then once you hit 70 well you've had your 3 score and 10 years so everything else is a bonus!
  9. Looking for someone to fit an external door A.S.A.P. (though will need to provide a quote for the insurance people) - and recommendations?
  10. If your interested in a laser cutting service please answer have a look at this survey to help use gauge demand - thank-you https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3B9TBH6
  11. I've recently done a course called Learn Create Sell where you learn how to do some product design, make a product and take it through to selling it (you can see more about the course at http://www.learncreatesell.com/ ) The current course is wrapping up and the next one will start in about February if anyone is interested. You have to be unemployed to go on the course and it's a commitment of a day a week. The course is run by AALFY and you can find out more about the logistics of the course and register an interest at http://www.aalfy.co.uk/
  12. I've recently been doing a course called Learn Create Sell which does pretty much what it says. A bunch of unemployed creatives and creative wanabes have been designing and making products and we now have a shop for our lovingly made in Sheffield products You can find us at the pop up shop in the winter garden or you can find out about the project online at http://www.learncreatesell.com/
  13. Have a porcelain statue of some sentimental value which has been broken (single clean break) and I don't really want to attempt super glue-ing it. Can anyone recommend a local ceramics repairer or restorer?
  14. In Sheffield's case probably the fact that the RHH has negative pressure isolation rooms for individuals with infectious diseases.
  15. Less than 10% of the population eligable to vote is a "clear vote against the E.U."!? If anything there was a clear vote for apathy. But ignoring that minor fact no-one from the E.U. is telling us what to do - every country get's advice from the other countries it's then up to the country in question whether to pay any heed to that advice or not. Still as the O.P. cited the Daily Mail I don't really expect facts to be taken into account.
  16. A friend of mine is shortly going to be looking for a therapy room for her hypnotherapy practice - hopefully something fairly central. Does anyone know of somewhere she might find a room or at least somewhere she might ask about rooms!?
  17. Got my papering done by Steve Oscar - did a great job and very quick and reasonably prices too
  18. Doesn't that argument work just as well if the finishing point were in the city center? You can drop into Meadow Hall and catch the train/tram into the city center to watch the finish. Or at least it would be if the organisers had y'know organised. Then again given the debacle over the half marathon organisation doesn't seem to be high on the cities abilities. Sheffield - city bird - The Male Chicken (up)
  19. Anyone know of a decorator who could hang some wallpaper for me and doesn't have a five month waiting list? Probably a couple of days work but tall walls by the side of staircases so no terribly easy to get to.
  20. I've had a whole batch of double glazing units replaced by Bluestone UPVC (http://www.bluestoneupvc.co.uk/) who were very fast, friendly, professional, clean and reasonably priced. If you need a glazier they are well worth a try
  21. Isn't it nice to see the horsemen of the enlightenment being so open and accepting of other people's points of view - gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling Most churches should be fine for you - even el pope has said "If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?" Try a few and see which one suits you. Personally if I had to choose one I would probably choose the quakers but t should be your personal choice.
  22. Given how small the library budget is (currently about 0.25% of the total budget) and the fact that the council has over 30 million of uncollected council tax, rent and rates not to mention is sitting on a large unspent reserve finding the money for libraries would have been a very easy job. (There was at least one fully costed alternatives presented and ignored.) In fact as they have now decided that they are going to have to cover the costs of the library buildings to be run any savings will be negligable. Not that that will be any consolation to all the people losing their jobs.
  23. The people in question were Clive Skelton and Roy Munn though to be honest I'm not sure many councilors have acquited themselves that well over the libraries :/
  24. I've just had a leaflet through the door about how my local councilors have been campaigning tirelessly for the retention of Greenhill Library. One of the two turned up at the first public meeting and continually spouted party line about how the library had to go due to the evil government. Both turned up to the second and asked to join the campaign mailing list then ignored the invite. Neither have been to any further campaign meetings or events. Neither have said anything at any of the public meetings any of us have been to. Neither were at the scrutiny comittee or are members of the cabinet. If this is their idea of "campaigning tirelessly" I would hate to see what happens when they want to get rid of something! Good job honesty isn't a requirement for politics.
