  1. I don't think they need to do that - just flick through a few media appearances. He's safe though, as is Johnson. What are you referring to? The number of tests being carried out which came to include numbers of test kits in the post? Or do you have something else in mind?
  2. Taking Dominic Cummings at face value is clearly foolish ... but his accusations of Hancock's lying are specific and the Health and Social Care Select Committee can probably check them. They do not need to rely on the truthfulness of Cummings to do this.
  3. Dominic Cummings is speaking to the Health Select Committee and the BBC is showing it. He is dishing it out to the government. Of course he is spinning and the government response will be spun but it may be useful it knocking loose some genuine evidence such as meeting minutes from within government.
  4. I feel I had bad treatment from Stoneacre's service department. See what you think of the following. I agreed with Stoneacre that they would do an MOT and service on my car on a specific day. Car goes in in the morning, in the evening when I chase up it turns out they have done what they call a 'free vehicle health check' and they send me a document with a list of issues and the work they are recommending. Some of the recommendations are for generic options and have no connection with either MOT or service but do appear to have high mark-ups. Other items are associated with flashes of red and indications that the issue would represent an MOT fail. Basicly, they have failed to do the MOT and service which was agreed upon and instead have performed a fairly brief inspection of their own devising with a view to selling me stuff. I take my car elsewhere and have an actual MOT and service and get actual MOT fail issues fixed at a considerable monetary saving. My knowledge of the law is limited but I think a garage that issues an MOT fail certificate with bogus issues is taking a big legal risk while one that issues its 'own paperwork' with bogus MOT fail issues but without actually doing an MOT runs a far smaller risk. Morally, I think the situations are the same but the DVSA (?) is not routinely going to involve itself in the latter case and I think the garage using its own paperwork for which they have made no charge can argue in court that they issued a sales document which is subject to less stringent law than an MOT certificate. I can not know for sure this is why Stoneacre did a free vehicle health check or that its MOT fail issues that were not actual MOT fail issues in the view of another garage were not mistakes/ differing judgement calls but I am suspicious. Stoneacre also should have done what they agreed to do on the day they agreed to do it instead of wasting my time.
  5. The expulsion, which by the way is the origin of 'the Jewish diaspora', occurred after the Jesus story has finished and was part of a response to a rebellion by the Jewish people. Also part of the response was the destruction of the second temple in Jerusalem.
  6. We were discussing the Arab - Israeli conflict, its causes and its history. It's a long story, but I'll try to get you started. "The Islam religion started with Mohammad in the 7th century, in Saudi Arabia of today. Mohammad included in Islam the idea of jihad (holy war) to spread Islam by the use of force". (Science.co.il/) It reached its peak in the Arab Empire which included Spain and India. Since then we've seen religious sectarianism throughout th Middle East, and a never ending series of internecinal wars involving Ottomans, Turks, Arabs, Sunnis, Shias, and more recently Jews. The turmoil continues today. But, you'll have to do a little homework yourself, OK? Thank you for your patronising reply. The spread of Islam has no connection with the Arab-Israeli conflict ... the Romans expelled the Jews from Palestine (or whatever the Romans called the relevent province) some centuries before the birth of Mohammed and such small minorities of Jews as have lived in Muslim lands have generally lived in amity with their rulers (they are a protected by Islamic law). The Arab-Israeli conflict is of modern vintage and its time of origin coincides with massive Jewish immigration to Palestine during the twentieth century.
  7. Fraid I can't help you there. Perhaps you cannot help me because there have been no "2,000 years old Semitic tribal wars" and you have inadvertently inserted a false narrative into the thread.
  8. What 2,000 years old Semitic tribal wars are you referring to and why would they be relevant? The Jewish population of Israel are overwhelmingly recent immigrants and their descendants (eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographic_history_of_Palestine_(region) ). It is a popular trope to reference Israel's democracy. Is it somehow better when a democracy commits war crimes than when a non-democracy does so? Israel's democracy does not make its behaviour more reasonable, it just gives confidence that its transgressions are likely to have some level of popular support within Israel.
