  1. We are looking for someone with considerable experience to lay down laminated wooden floors for us for a total area of 95 m2. If you are interested, could you please PM me, replying with the following information: how much would it cost? how long would it take to complete the job? what kind of experience do you have in laying down laminated wooden floors? Thanks.
  2. This might be the first post I read here that a local listed a number of negative facts about the Walkley area. Thanks, good to know.
  3. Just to be able to understand where you are coming from a little better, have you ever lived in Walkley or in other areas close to Walkley, or not? Thanks.
  4. How's lower Walkley area, just south of Ruskin Park (towards Blake Street)?
  5. How's lower Walkley area, just south of Ruskin Park (towards Blake Street)?
  6. Hi, We are interested in a house around this area and it is hard to get a good grasp without actually living there, as the neighbours look like they are from very different backgrounds. Can anybody living in this neighbourhood advise whether it is a nice area to live in, please? Many thanks.
  7. Why do you think the feedback varies this much about this part of the city? It seems more consistent for most of the other parts. ---------- Post added 02-12-2012 at 15:03 ---------- Does anybody know how much a car insurance cost (on average) is in this neighbourhood? Say the car is worth £4000 and the driver is 30 years old.
  8. That's very encouraging, many thanks. The range of feedback is very wide, though. Some long-term residents haven't spot any problems, some people say they avoid going through there at night, some mention drug sellers and prostitutes around. Hard to believe they are all talking about the same neighbourhood. How's the Blake Street side?
  9. How is this neighbourhood these days? How is living around Upperthorpe Road?
  10. Are there any other council houses in the area, other than the ones by the roundabout?
  11. Hi, I was wondering what it is like to live on or around Blake Street in Upperthorpe. I read really worrying threats and really positive ones but they are all out of date. Does anyone know how it is these days? Many thanks.
  12. How is the Barlow Road area in Stannington for living for a young family? How is transportation? Is it a secure area? Would it really that different from upper Walkley? Many thanks.
  13. Thank you, Jeffrey. Can you please give an example of the misrepresentation of the position by the vendor in this case? Would "I had the roof inspection two weeks ago and everything is fine" considered as a misrepresentation?
  14. A valuation survey has been undertaken by the mortgage lender and the surveyor pointed out a problem with the roof that requires further inspected by a roof expert. The mortgage lender said the buyer should arrange this on their own. However, it is not buyers' fault that there is a problem, which requires a further (non-standard) survey. Shouldn't the seller pay for this additional survey, as it is their ignorance that caused the problem? If so, how could the buyer enforce this payment from the seller? Many thanks.
  15. Thank you for your responses, it is remarkable how everyone says 'hi' when they are passing by in the park in Walkley and the landscape is remarkable. I'm not sure why it is all about S10-S11 in Sheffield when there is a neighbourhood just outside S10 that is clearly very nice.
  16. How is Walkley these days? Upper Walkley, around Walkley Bank Road? Still safe to raise a young family? How's it compare to Crookes?
  17. Hi, could anyone from Handsworth (preferably Medlock end) comment on raising a young family there, please. I am particularly curious about the crime rates/types; I know car crimes happen frequently, what about breaking in etc., relatively speaking? Also, how are the facilities such as gym, shops, (other than ASDA), parks etc. Would you buy a "decent" house from Crookes or a "great" house from Handsworth - Medlock for the same price? Many thanks.
  18. Some of the landlords in S10 are crazy, turning down offers around 95% of asking price for their houses that have been on the market for months. And they are supposed to be looking for a quick sale if you ask them...
  19. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone living on or close by to Heavygate Avenue could comment on the neighbourhood. What are the crime rate, noise level, transportation links, shops etc. like? How is it compare to "inner S10"? Many thanks.
  20. As far as I see, a property is either gone within the month of being advertised or the landlord will have to reduce its asking price eventually, to have another go. There is a group actively seeking, as some houses go the week they are advertised. That group can reduce in size but will always be there and eliminate the best-value-for-money houses if you don't act fast as an active seeker yourself.
  21. Are you paranoid that everyone is lying to you? You don't have to object everything. Here it is: Cheapest two bed houses in each neighbourhood, without substantial repairment: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33779869.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-21030492.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33313336.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-23387022.html
  22. Houses in S10 and S11 are, in most cases, twice as expensive as those in S2 or S6 (even for those properties that are closer to city centre). Plus there are hardly any semi-detached in S10, mainly terraced, unlike S2. Is the free house market working appropriately or is there a within-city bubble? Thanks.
  23. Mainly from friends living around there, although there are some examples in this forum as well (albeit a little out of date): http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=5521277
