:help:I'm looking to plan a evening out for a friends 50th birthday:|4 ladies going out who enjoy nice things. We have booked to stay at the Mercure Hotel St Pauls for a spa day near Nolfolk st. Even though the hotel provides evening meals and is very nice, I'd like to plan a nearby restaraunt meal as an alternative for her. We arent familar with Sheffield eateries . I am aware there are a number of nearby resteraunts but seek your expertise! Nothing ravy, Old Skool for a memorable evening would be super(she is still young at heart).

Does anybody remember the harvest festivals in primary schools?
newlady replied to Mummytwo's topic in General Discussions
Yes i do remember Harvest festivals:clap:. There was always a big baked piece bread in the centre and we all had to go to the 'old peoples home' and sing harvest songs. In the days when I got free milk lol! way before the milk snatcher:hihi: -

:|Hi All took up the special offer of beauty treatments by Lynda V Price on Ecclesall Rd. Very impressed :)and excellent value. 2 treatments for £25 available via Groupon or Travel Zoo. I had a clarins facial, back and neck massage. Friend had manicure and facial. I have recommended to my friends at work, so it must be ok (in my view)... Normal prices arent cheap though... -

Do you think Black History Month is a tad racist?
newlady replied to Green Web's topic in General Discussions
Harleyman makes some excellent observations. As a child of the 60's there was no mention of Black people's contribution toward British history where none white people were shoulder to shoulder in world wars 1&2. I was taugh Black people were a lot of savages where the Misionnary coming on his boat tame us with Christianity ( and other ways). I welcome Black History month not from a political PC perspective, but to help raise awareness of the many various contrubutions made by many black people not only in sport and music but other fields, nursing science, authors the list is endless. As a child I experienced many eldery retired WW2 soldiers telling me in the street as I passed ' we fought the war for you lot' . The British war museum helps uncover this myths with the many women and diversity of soldiers.Together lets uncover these myths through Black History month ( Now stepped off my soap box..)
