  1. Westminster is an international tourist attraction, where as some pokey old crap-house in Sheffield has no place in modern britain. There is a pecking order in everything, and it cant be said that such an old delapitated building could in any way be likened to the beautiful buildings that London has to offer
  2. A driver flashed me out of station road at Ecco today, but the driver coming the other way didnt let me go, but the next one did. I could have crushed a grape.
  3. and you think sheffield is modern?? take a look at some other cities, and they put us to shame. there are old delapitated buildings still standing in sheffield that were just as bad 40 years ago. get rid of all those eyesores, and move on.
  4. Ive just told you why silly. Sheffield needs to be modernised, and stop trying to live in a past that dosent want it anymore.
  5. It dosent need saving.....it needs pulling down. Sheffield needs to get with the times and move on. It can never be as it once was, so lets try the modern approach, and pull it down and build a new structure that would grace the city:huh:
  6. Petes Picture Shop in Ecclesfield near church. Top bloke
  7. These lorry drivers who speed are idiots. I wouldnt speed in something that big. They should stay the same speed if the limit goes up.
  8. any HGV that does 60 mph on the flat has been doctored. 55-56mph max, unless its a Morrisons or Sainsbury wagon. They set their vehicles at 52mph. Any fool who does 70 mph down a hill with a 44 tonner, wants his licence revoking, put many peoples lives at risk. Now thats a fact.
  9. They will have to stay the same. Lorrys are restricted to around 55-56 mph, so it would be difficult to update all trucks, plus it would be dangerous to go much faster
  10. who ever you choose, make sure they are fully insured with an operators licence and public liability insurance. I know cheap is good, but you dont want to be the one who hired a cheapo bus for you and your friends and, god forbid, anything happens.
  11. Sheffield seems to be known for Meadowhell, and not much else......except flat caps and whippets. Is that why we arent on a map? I say to hell with Calendar weather presenters. If they think Cleckheatmondwike is more popular, then let em show the place on their maps. It will probably be raining there, anyway.
  12. That bloke did well to pass an artic lorry test after just 6 lessons, and no lessons at all for a car test. He/She must be a very good driver. Do they drive the artics for a living? I would love to drive one, and this has prompted me to have a go, if it is that easy to drive a lorry that big. Where did you have your 6 lessons, and I will give them a call.
  13. lol:hihi: Sometimes responses are funnier than the actual row lol. I take back the shove it nonsense, lifes too short!:hihi:
  14. 1,2,3 etc. Very annoying, to say the least. Time wont tell if you know me, because you dont. If you doubt or dont doubt, I really dont care. Yes, your instant attack post was offensive. I didnt offend you. My reply was defensive. Im not a hypocrite.....You offended me first. You are, of course a very regular poster, who seems to be well educated in reading the thoughts, and knowing intimately the habits of many people, including those you dont actually know! Remarkable. You should be on TV. I cant really say the things above, can I? How would I know?? Ha ha, you are the best!! Great posts, and friendly humourous banter. God, I wish we were neighbours. Cant say that, either. Let me just say this, and please dont take it as offensive...... Shove it mate, just frikken shove it.
  15. And there you go. An instant butthole reply from somebody who dosent even know me. This thread is perfect. Very true, and full of arrogant posters who want to accuse you of being......here we go.......their favourite stupid annoying word...... troll. Yep, thats the word on here, Troll. Well heres one for you 0742sheff, ive never had an "account" on here before, and I do have a "clue" what its like on here, coz (BECAUSE) ive read this forum for ages. I was a little sceptical about joining, as a lot of posts seem to be as cynical as yours, and this has just shown exactly what its like on this forum. I havent offended anyone on this thread, however you feel you need to offend and accuse me????? Keep your unjustified opinions to yourself, especially on a thread about arrogant people who usually post crap
  16. Motorcyclists are, in my mind, a totally different kind of road user. Lovely machines, and normally ridden by someone who has passed a difficult test, to enable them to ride on the road. This is where cycle users are different. The biggest arguement is that not all cyclists are drivers/riders, which means they can get on a bike, and away they go. Roadsense seems lost on some of them, but whenever this accusation is made, the cycle community are down the neck of the poster, like a warm pint of Duckhams on a cold morning:)
  17. I have been involved in a few heated conversations about cyclists, and I have really been savaged from the local cycling community. Its ok to disagree about various topics, but to preach and fill the pages with "cyclists are "Holier than Thou" bile, is just the sort of thing that this thread is talking about. Im sure many of us have had "heated" chats about many topics with each other, but I do not think my views are more important than anyone elses, unlike some of the arrogant people that roam this forum. I do so hope I have put this across, as to not get a savaging for it:)
  18. how on earth has this come to this??????? Its exactly as caravan girl says....... You really cant say nothing. can you???
  19. Ive seen a few posts like this one, and usually the mods take them off. Silly really, because you are spot on with this. If it helps, have a shout at me. Many others have, but I always believed that most talk crap anyway. Quote this, quote that and use weird phrases that they pick up from google. Its funny what some people will write from the comfort of their armchairs, but would we really say things when we are face to face? Im sure they wouldnt!
  20. we bought a house in Burncross when our children were of school age. there was a selection of junior schools that were in walking distance, which was ideal when they were that age, however when they reached secondary school age, a couple of mile journey was needed to get them to ecclesfield school. surely our choice of house location wasnt a fashion statement at the time of purchase, more so that there wasnt a secondary school any closer, which unfortunately makes your post another anti-car statement, dosent it?
  21. Having been barraged by a lot of members who quite clearly would rather cycle than use a car, its clear that Sheffield has got its fair share of car-hating individuals who insist that car drivers are rude, impatient, not eco friendly and otherwise just getting in the way. God help you if you take a short cut past a house or shout obsceneties at a crazy red light jumping cyclist. I can understand that purposely going through no entries or bus gates is very bad for any driver to do, but if you want to take a "rat run" legally, then why in the hell shouldnt you? If I had three children to drop at school, and a job at the other end of town, I would get on with my daily business without even caring a jot whoever didnt like where I was driving. As long as you dont break any laws, abide by the laws of the roads, keep out of bus lanes and didnt break the speed limits, then all the nosy and interfering jobsworths and moaners can go and put their heads up their own backsides, as its really none of their business.
  22. What an absolutely terrible response. The fact that these two people did not pull over in single file to allow this bus to pass is judge sheer ignorance. A huge bus on a busy road like that needs all the room it can get. I know the H/C says you must give a full vehicle space when you pass, but in all fairness that is hard enough for a car, never mind a bus. This isnt a case of the law, because neither bus nor cycle was breaking it.....this is a case of two pig ignorant idiots who seemed to more concerned with chatting to each other, than allowing a bus to pass a little easier past them. I suppose you will deem this to be acceptable, but if that is the case, can it not be assumed that you are as pig ignorant as those two who were creating the hold up?
  23. it seems to me that some on this forum are convinced that cyclists are mostly good guys that dont believe a lot of them ride in a silly fashion. Poppycock and doo-dah. I saw two of them this morning riding side by side up ecclesall road, and a bus was stuck behind them for ages. Is that the norm for cyclists? What a selfish and silly thing to do, but judging by the abuse that cyclists give you on here, I expect that they will say that riding two abreast is ok. I dont know what to say about this subject anymore. Its clear that a lot of cyclists are generally stupid and selfish by nature, yet the cyclists on here refuse to believe it????
  24. Since when were you offended?? I dont have a 4x4, its a Prius, and I am aware its a very ugly car, but quite green as well. I dont lord over anybody, but judging by your tag-pic, its obvious that YOU are a cyclist too, who dosent take kindly to people airing their views about certain crazy people. If you fall into the catagory of "Idiot", then please feel free to be offended by me calling cyclists clowns. If you consider yourself to be a careful and courteous rider, then these comments shouldnt offend you at all. If a cyclist rides like a ****, then he/she IS a ****. If a driver drives like a ****, then he/she is a **** too. Surely that cant be THAT difficult to understand.:loopy::loopy:
