Councillors scrap bus passes for kids - but keep their own
PoGa replied to Kevin123's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Sheffield Council’s Cabinet yesterday voted to scrap free bus passes for up to 1,000 children attending church schools in the city. But the city’s councillors still have their own free bus passes, city centre parking permits and have their other travel costs picked up by the council. http://postcodegazette.com/news/9002805310/councillors-scrap-bus-passes-for-church-schools---but-keep-their-own-AT-sheffield-sheffield-town-hall/ -

All 36 children’s centres in the city are being declassified as Ofsted-registered centres and instead reorganised into 17 children’s centre ‘areas’ as part of council efforts to save £3.5million. Up to 50 people could lose their jobs and 20 childcare providers will lose funding. http://postcodegazette.com/news/9002772211/%27heartbreaking%27-overhaul-of-sheffield-children%27s-centres-announced-AT-sheffield-sheffield-town-hall/

Jess Ennis has been nominated for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year. Tough competition though, she's up against 11 others - they have extended it this year from 10 to 12 people on the shortlist. http://postcodegazette.com/news/9002738842/jess-nominated-for-sports-personality-crown-AT-sheffield-don-valley-stadium/

Ranmoor Parish Hall is going for sale at auction later this month. Sure a lot of people have fond memories of it - from what we can remember, it housed Guides and a youth club in the 1980s, was a polling station for quite a while then became a soft play centre in 2008. http://postcodegazette.com/news/9002685596/ranmoor-parish-hall-on-sale-at-auction-AT-sheffield-ranmoor-road/
