  4. Everything about Saddam is agreed, can't fault you on that, and I agree also that he is, sorry was, a disgrace to the species but... let's not forget who funded Saddam and got him in to power in the first place
  5. Harleyman, I'm not going to be as crass as to say "lol" or "haha" as some of my peers may but I have to say that the opening of that made me chuckle a bit! My point wasn't to call you a terrorist, nothing of the sort, I haven't met you whether on here or in person so I would never make such a definitive statement and don't feel I did! I was trying to make the point that the way in which you had worded your previous post made it sound (to me) like you were just as good at being torturous and violent as they are, which in a way, I guess you have agreed with above. I can't deny that the islamist extremists that currently threaten the western world are a very real and serious threat but the citizens of Iraq are not *all* extremist muslims and by a) killing innocents and b) torturing *people* whether guilty or not makes us just as bad as them! And as for the Second World War, Saddam had made no direct threat to the west that I am aware of - although I would be quite happy to be proved wrong if I am so) and was showing no signs of wanting to "take over the world" as Hitler was. Saddam had no plans for a one world race! (Again, that I am aware of) If you feel that "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" is the best way to be, I am in no place to tell you to change your beliefs, as you are in no place to do likewise to me. I am more than happy to "agree to disagree" as they say, as we have both said our pieces and we both appear to be very opinionated and perhaps a little too attached to our own respective beliefs To cap my personal involvement on this thread, sorry to the OP for going a little off topic and thank you Harleyman for allowing the exchanging of ideas to take place in such an honest fashion, thats what the forum is here for and that's why I love it!
  6. referring specifically to the part I have emboldened... how you can say you are prejudiced against terrorist organisations of any sort, whilst in the same sentence you justify behaving like a terrorist yourself? Can you not see that we in the so called "civilised free world" should rise above this sort of atrocity? Can you not see that by behaving in this way (and excusing this behaviour when seen in others) you are just as bad as they are? After all, isn't it the standard excuse for all terrorists to claim they were merely "trying to prevent another attack" from being carried out on their organisation, or religion, or country or whatever? I have to say Harleyman, I have not encountered you on here before and I am not one for making a discussion personal but the level of apparently blind hypocrisy that I find present in the above really does make me think you would make a pretty good terrorist yourself...
  7. im a newcastle fan myself and I think that its about time that people who give Joey lads of grief for stuff he's done in the past (none of which I'm defending incidentally, he was a complete idiot) when he's got his act together now. He hasn't had a drink in ages, and that seems to have done the trick (touch wood) Shearer said it best on MOTD, if Joey had made one of those challenges he'd have been booked or sent off straight away, which was proved right when he got booked for the one late on, which was nowhere near as bad as any of wolves'!
  8. I'm a student of performance art and I have to say if it wasn't for those two I'd probably have dropped out by now When you look at the Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, it's pure performance art! much better than the elitist nonsense we get taught half of the time. they're not claiming to be comedy geniuses, they're quite open about the fact they're just messing about having a larf! which is quite obvious really "Jack! With your face like an abandoned greenhouse, like a bankrupt pug, like a disused slot" Keep it coming boys, I'd rather watch Shooting Stars over Family Guy and all that other american rubbish any day!
  9. To quote some song lyrics... "Promote the beauty of learning, and how it comes hand in hand with earning" I don't think it means just earning in a financial sense, but earning the respect, love and experience needed to grow To Live is to Learn...Stop Learning and you Stop Living
  10. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/draws/index.html What does everyone think of that then? Man City v Juve should be good, Group J looks the toughest and Liverpool get away with a group that even they can't mess up....or can they?
  11. A) Bremen and Spurs B) Lyon and Schalke C) Bursaspor and the Red Scum D) Barca and Panathinaikos (how come Barca always get the easy group?) E) Bayern and Roma F) Chelsea and Spartak G) Real and Ajax H) Arsenal and Braga I think the red scum will sneak through in group C but I'll be cheering for Valencia or Rangers ahead of them!!!
  12. I agree, perhaps double spacing the numbers on the sheet before they're printed? or a larger, clearer font? I know they may sound like daft ideas but you never know until you try
  13. On a (slightly) similar note, this made me think back to an episode of Doctor Who (I know, not exactly the best source I could have used!) where the contestants of gameshows are being killed off for fun... Female Programmer: If you're not holding us hostage, then open the door and let us out. The staff are terrified! The Doctor: That's the same staff who execute hundreds of contestants every day? Female Programmer: That's not our fault. We're just doing our jobs. The Doctor: And with that sentence, you just lost the right to even talk to me. Perfect (if not a little idealistic) way to deal with ignorance imo
  14. I don't know for definite, but I'd say that if your problems with numbers are caused by your dyslexia then they're being discriminatory! I'd say go to C.A.B and ask what they think. Hope that helps
