Guest Mod_Man
This is probably going to annoy a lot of people but i personally think they should pay more taxes. Obesity costs the NHS £500.000.000 a year and the country as a whole £7.400.000.000 a year. As a smoker i pay extra tax for the strain i put on the NHS yet an obese person pays no extra tax. Obese people naturally consume more of the worlds resources, more food means more land taken up for agriculture, more packaging for more food means more trees chopped down for packaging, a car laden with more weight would use up more fuel, it's very hard to get two overweight people on a bus seat so ultimately more busses would need to be put on roads to cope with the lack of room. Finally why do obese people think it fine to comment on a thin person saying things like " you need to eat more " or " you look ill ". Im 10 stone and have been at the receiving end of such comments. If i were to tell a fat person they need to eat less and the way they look makes me feel ill there would be an outrage. " Which will no doubt follow.". I would also find it highly hypocritical if this thread gets removed after some of the things allowed on this site recently regarding immigrants and youths. Thanks for reading. beansforyou
Surely obese people pay more tax when they are buying the extra food they consume, probably stood behind you when you buy your fags So that kind of puts the tax strain theory out of the debate. BoroughGal
What makes you think that all fat people make those sorts of comments? I don't think the thread will be removed for any other reason than it's been done, like, a zillion times before.

A large proportion of food is VAT free. Typically its the unhealthy stuff that is zero-rated VAT like takeaways and full VAT of 21% is applied to healthy drink options like tomato juice. Have a read of this here There won't be a fat tax, far far too difficult to implement and monitor.
