Can Anyone Repair A Yamaha Clavinova?

Recommended Posts

My Clavinova is making a very load humming and crackling noise as soon as it's turned on.  Does anyone know anyone who can repair it. The piano is pretty old - about 25 years, I think..

Thanks

The humming suggests that the smoothing capacitors in the power supply have had it - one of the first things to go in old equipment.

Thank you.

Would this be fairly easy repaired (or the power supply replaced? Do you think the power supply is likely to be specific to the Clavinova, or a fairy generic thing?

If it is the capacitors they are cheap to buy (less than £10) but the hard part is disassembling the Clavinova. Unless the power supply is an external one, then it would be best to borrow one and see if the issue is still present. Which part of town do you live, if local to me I'll take a look for nothing.
