soulman83 Â Â 10 #1 Posted October 9, 2023 Hi everyone, Â Could anyone recommend a solicitor in the Sheffield area that can help my parents with the purchase of the freehold of their end of terrace house? If anyone has used anyone to do this and can recommend someone I would appreciate it. Also if anyone knows a solicitor that provides a free consultation on this to start with so we can explain the situation with the lease that would be even better. Â Thank you in advance. andysm   18 #2 Posted October 9, 2023 I'm using Norrie, Waite & Slater. Be prepared, freehold purchases are taking a long time, there are major delays at the land registry. Next month is the 2 year anniversary of the start of my freehold purchase journey.
 Share this content via...
soulman83 Â Â 10 #3 Posted October 9, 2023 Thanks Andysm for your comment. Are you buying the freehold of a house or flat? I hear there are issues with flats more than opposed to houses and the current freeholder is confident it could be completed within 6 months, hence my question. andysm   18 #5 Posted October 11, 2023 I'm buying the freehold for a house. The documents were signed and the money paid in October last year, but I am waiting for LR to update their records.
 Share this content via...

But that's not so important, once you've completed your f/r purchase. If it becomes urgent, e.g. you need registration finishing because of an onward sale or remortgage, HMLR can usually expedite the application once the solicitor who lodged it submits appropriate evidence. The statutory rules about flats are different from those re houses, anyway. But the HMLR delays are the same!
 Share this content via...
