Does anyone use the Lincoln line train services?

Recommended Posts

biggest problem is that Worksop is outside a PTE area and the little rail funding there is in Notts was put into the robin hood line. People don;t seem to realise how lucky S yorksis that W Yorks is also a PTE area and that the Glossop bit of Derbyshire comes under GMPTE

We find for some reason that West Yorkshire PTE seem to get more funding for trains/ new station than its South Yorkshire counterparts

I think you might be struggling to find somewhere for the eastbound platform, which would require disabled access. A better option IMO would be to make Darnall a parliamentary or request stop.

There isnt enough land there to have a Lincoln bound platform, and if you could just about squeeze one in, building even a small railway station costs a lot of money - Probably "about" £750k starting price for something no better than what is at Darnall station now.

Trust us their is plenty of room, the line on this section used to be 4 tracks, its now down to 2, at the end of the day Darnall station is going to have to be closed down or relocated as it is just not worth it been open in its present state

Id agree Darnall station may well be clsoed at some point, but closure due to lack of trade is hardly an incentive to build a new one down the road.

SYPTE always seem much more bus-oriented than Metro do, probably because W Yorks already had a comprehensive rail network, and Leeds is one of the busiest commuter stations outside London.

I can see that line becoming a tram train if the line to Rotherham is a success.

probably something to do with

1. the population of west Yorkshire and it's Four Major settlements (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, and Huddersfield) andwhat aobut the 'second tier' Towns of West Yorkshire (keighley,Halifax etc) and their populations compared to Barnsley for example...

2.Leeds Railway station and it's role as an interchange between TPE,East Coast and XC as well as local services ...

As Noel1953 has said below is would be better to move the station nearer to the B6200 ( Handsworth Road ) then you have a catchment area of Darnall & Handsworth

They should have pulled Darnall station down years ago and replaced it with one near the B6200 road bridge and renamed it Handsworth & Darnall, no one uses the station as the moment as it looks like a craphole.

Their is enough space to run the tram from Nunnery Junction ( side of the Supertram depot ) to Woodhouse.

The problem with the line is it is not publicized very well, as we have said it seems to have been left behind, one thing that many people don't know is the trains when they go to Sheffield Midland then mostly go onto Meadowhall / Rotherham / Doncaster, so if you live in Woodhouse or Darnall and work at Meadowhall it would take you around 15-20 minutes on the train compared to around 4 days on the Ring Road

once took me 5 hours to get to cleethorps

We know the ( Saturday Only ) Sheffield Midland - Cleethorpes via Gainsborough Central was bad , but we never knew it was that bad :help:

and takes an incredibly meandering route and a ridiculous amount of time to actually get anywhere
