Stoatwobbler   10 #3 Posted September 19, 2012 It's traditional to provide some links so we can have a look for ourselves and see if it's interesting.  Here's a link  http://www.sheffieldcamra.org.uk/beerfestival.html  I think it should be worth visiting, and I would also expect it to be an improvement on last year's event. Andy C Â Â 86 #4 Posted September 19, 2012 If you like trying new beers and ciders then its worth going. Â Basically its a big hall containing a large bar in the middle with around 150 different beers and about 25 different ciders and perries, also in the hall are games, food stalls, a t-shirt/breweriana stall and in the evening there is live music designed to create a good atmosphere. Andy C   86 #6 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) Still working on the beer list. All the local beers are ordered but still some wheeler dealing taking place to get interesting beers from further afield! The cider list is already complete and online (albeit with some typos).  Also we are selling advance tickets online this year if that is benefit to anyone through the arena box office site. The online tickets are £10 packages including entry, glass, programme and beer tokens. Online sales are subject to a booking fee. Note this package does not save any money compared to paying on the door, it is being provided for convenience. However there is a discount for groups of 5 which must be booked in advance, either online or arranging cheque payment by emailing [email protected]. daniel3982 Â Â 10 #7 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm coming down from York for this for my first beer festival in years. Looking forward to it. Â Anyone know how much the tokens are?
 Share this content via...
Andy C   86 #8 Posted September 23, 2012 I'm coming down from York for this for my first beer festival in years. Looking forward to it. Anyone know how much the tokens are?  The festival has moved on from the 1 token = 1 beer system, beers are individually priced and you have tokens with cash value (you buy a load of £1 tokens and 10p tokens and spend them like cash). The only reason tokens are still used is so there is no cash behind the bar (security reasons and also giving change slows service down)
 Share this content via...
Farslad   10 #9 Posted September 23, 2012 What's Ponds Forge like as a venue? I don't know it well. Are you stood drinking on a 5 a-side pitch or badminton courts or such like? Or is there a proper room/venue that is used for such events?  I think I'll pop in and have a look see.
 Share this content via...
Andy C Â Â 86 #10 Posted September 23, 2012 it is the International Sports Hall, which is built as a flexible space - there are badminton nets etc that drop down from the ceiling but it also hosts boxing tournaments, awards ceremonies, exhibitions and all sorts.
