367squadron
Recently at work they have implemented a 'fair' way or searching staff as they finish work. One of them is to search your car. Now i don't mind the bag and pocket searches but surely this invasion of someones privacy. Twice now my car has been searched in two days and it makes me feel very intimated not to mention degrading. This is also done after we have clocked out often adding the extra 5-10 minutes we have to wait for someone to come and search it for us. I know it's not a long time but if we are late by even a minute we are docked 15 minutes pay. Surely this is wrong, can anyone help?
warriormonk
This sounds totally outrageous. How come people accepted searches in the first place though? Is it part of the contract? Do you have a union? What on earth are they searching for?
ANGELUS
I'd join the T&G union and see what they say, but I'm pretty sure the company can do whatever they see fit security wise. I know our company can do random security searches if they see fit at our place.
Jake01
Yes they can search your car.... I work for Vauxhall GME and whether in Ellesmere Port Or Luton.... the security guards have a nose at the cars in the car parks and if they spot something untoward they will report it.... like a brand new cd player in an old car manufactured for Vauxhall.... they also have fixed cctv watching people doing illegal activities on Co. grounds.... I am a member of Amicus-AEEU and they support this. So do I.

DragonofAna
There are warnings up for the staff in Sheffield Co-ops that their vehicles are subject to a search. When I worked for them it was never a problem. Just do not take things to work you do not want to be found - such as the porn mags under the seat and such. I do not see the problem with such searches and am pretty sick and tired of all this invasion of privacy rubbish. It is all too easy for people to go out to their cars at lunch time or whatever and slip things into their vehicle - though I am not saying this happens very often. Do not see that it hurts - and an extra few minutes waiting for the search to be carried out aint going to kill anyone. Dragon

Dragon On the contrary - ''plant'' stuffn don't tell anyone, that way if 'word gets round' it has to be security who are in breach of confidentialty & you can get them sacked! Your lucky ,security at our place reported somebody for not having a tax disc , if you have nothing to hide what’s the problem ?
HotPhil
my big problem would be with the time aspect of it. if they punish you for being late and then delay your journey home i would be wanting paying for the time they delay me.
Grandad.Malky
I can see were you are coming from but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. I clock in 1 minute late and I get docked time, if I clock out late I cannot get any time back!
