Do,s anyone know why they will not spay ferrets now.

Also when is best time to spay one or should they be spayed at all.

Im a bit confused now as to spay jab or inplant.

The RSPCA will spay a ferret if you have proof of benefits and they are really very good I would recommend them.

Lots of people like to give the implant now for a few years then spay, but they can be spayed from around 6 months, the Jill jab should not be given as a long term option so spay, vasectomised Hob or implant is best long term.

No PDSA wont spay a ferret now due to recent studys obtained that it may POSSIBLY be a cause that sets of ARENAL disease.

Id agree also 6 month plus is a good time but best not before as once again same as above and certanly before her first season if possible. As for jab thats ok for a quick fix just to get her out of season and that is a MUST unless you have or can put her with a vasectomised Hob as moonbird says. But that is not 100% saying she cant get caught.Im not all that keen on implant although saying that it can help with Adrenal disease specaily Suprelorin implant. And is ideal for older ferrets that have not been spayed for what ever reason. The jill jab if given long term can also cause behaviour change, uterine infections and diabetes, although these effects are very uncommon. There are talks about spaying and implanting together but you will find most vets wont even implant the ferret only a small amount of vets are willing.

Also agree RSPCA vets (peaks) do a great job of spaying.

Only vets i know that will implant at moment are Peaks and Beech house again PDSA will not.PDSA will how ever give the jill jab due to fact that it can be life threatening.

Most cat ear drops are safe these i can vouch for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dog-Cat-Ear-Drops-Johnsons-KILLS-Ear-Mites-/130654156737?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&hash=item1e6b9837c1

But check with a vet for others.Make sure it go,s down the ear canal. To be honest the bottles they come in are totaly useless.I use the old type ear dropper or a shringe.

Dont let it get to there eyes gently wipe a minute after round ear.Do not use more than 3 drops daily on the lagest ferret.1 to 2 drops on smaller.

See a vet if you think theres any kind of infection going on.

Go to peak and get the ferret spayed without a doubt. .. don't leave it you may lose them.

Absolutely!

A female ferret must be brought out of season as soon as possible as she will not come out of season by herself, within a month she will start to develop life threatening anemia, in some ferrets it doesn't even take that long, so please don't leave her for long.
