Due to the adverse weather conditions, and the amount of snow and ice in the hospice grounds, we have taken the decision to postpone the Festival of Light which was due to take place on Sunday 5th Dec. The event will now take place on Sun 16th January at 5pm.

The event at the Railway Station on Mon 6th December at 6pm is still scheduled to go ahead as originally planned.

We have more information on our website or you can call our Reception on 0114 236 9911.

Frank Turner at Plug tomorrow is ON

From his site:

"And so we move on to Sheffield. Sheffield tomorrow is definitely happening. I am aware that there are people who won’t be able to make it to the gig because of the snow, and I certainly don’t encourage people to make a journey that puts them in any danger. But the show must go on for the reasons stated above. Also, if there are people who haven’t had tickets delivered yet, never fear, they will have a full list of ticket holders on the door, just bring your credit card and / or booking reference and you’ll get in just fine."

Tonight's events: Jesse Malin & St Marks Social and Propaganda with Ellie Goulding DJ Set will be happening as planned. Also Brighton Beach tomorrow is on!

TARKA DAWN

Please note that due to this week's adverse weather conditions Saturday's (4.12.10) Tarka Dawn concert is being rescheduled to Friday 4th February 2011. Although the weather has stabilised a lot of the fans were travelling from outside of Sheffield so it was thought prudent to reschedule.

HUMAN LEAGUE

Further to the unfortunate postponement of the Human League’s show at Sheffield City Hall on 1.12.10. The date is now rescheduled at 02 Academy Sheffield on Sunday 12th December 2010.

Original City Hall tickets are still valid and will be accepted on door on night. Any further sales will be on AMG / Ticket Web / Fast Ticket stock

QUIREBOYS

The Quireboys show has been rescheduled again due to transport issues for Dan Reed who will be flying out of the country following the tour. It will now take place on Monday 13th December 2010, The Dan Reed Band will still be appearing as Special Guests of The Quireboys, but will play as an acoustic three piece for this show.

All tickets for the original date 02.12.10 remain valid. Those customers unable to attend may obtain a refund at point of purchase.

Magical Christmas Event at Sheffield Botanical Gardens Postponed

The Magical Christmas event at Sheffield Botanical Gardens has reluctantly been postponed due to the recent bad weather.

The event planned for the 10th, 11th and 12th of December which provides a magical evening in the illuminated gardens has been postponed by organizers Sheffield City Council.

There is a significant amount of snow and ice that would need to be cleared from the gardens before next Friday and many Parks and Countryside staff are helping ensure priority areas such as hospital pathways are cleared and gritted or are providing cover for Sheffield Care 4 You services.

A spokesperson for the Parks and Countryside Service stated that “the safety of visitors is always the priority at any of our events and with temperatures expected to remain below freezing particularly during the night, it was felt inappropriate to encourage large numbers of adults and children to attend an area where there was likely to be significant amounts of compacted snow and ice. In reaching a decision to postpone the event we have sought the advice of Health and Safety Officers and have taken into consideration the long range weather forecast provided by Emergency Planning colleagues.”

This is the 4th year of the Magical Christmas event which turns the gardens into an illuminated winter wonderland, providing fun for all the family and also raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Charity Appeal.
