Recommended businesses and tradesmen part2 NO ADVERTISING OR QUOTES

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Long time reader - first time poster.

We have a small Victorian end terrace in Sheffield which we're looking to add an extension onto the back, whilst at the same time remodeling our kitchen and creating a small utility room. We have a complete set of architectural instructions and drawings so can go through things in complete detail.

Would anyone be able to pass on any personal recommendations for companies/tradespeople they've used in similar circumstances who I might be able to contact for a quotation. We do have a budget in mind but a reliable, professional service is more important to us that price.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions

Hi. You may want to get some professional advice before you employ a builder to carry out specific tasks. These can be fairly complex issues. I would recommend a building surveyor give you some advice in the first instance. I am a building surveyor and would be happy to do this, alternatively, there are plenty on the net or in the yellow pages that you will find. Feel free to give me a call. 07702 914147. Thanks. Spencer

Spencer, you've finally posted !!!

I've worked with Soencer on a couple of projects and found him knowledgable and produces a good schedule of works.

I'd be happy to work with/along side him if need be.

Thanks!

Hi. Not a lot is the answer (!). As I am new to the forum, I understand I need to post 5 times before I can IM. Could you possibly IM me your email and I would be happy to let you know. Would rather not post prices on here.

Many thanks

Spencer

Hi

I am struggling to find any reasonably priced builders who seem to know what to do with my damp issues.

Can anyone please recommend any tradesman who would be able to come and treat all the timber in my house against further insect/dry rot issues? Also there is no damp proof course in the house, does anyone know anyone who knows how to properly tank my ground floor walls and also the kitchen floor?

Thanks in advance for the help as this is massively holding up my house renovation as I can't complete plastering and insulating until this is sorted.

Ouch, good luck with that. We thought we had a small problem with wood-worm in one beam and it became a massive issue.

Hi,

My partner is looking for someone who deals with drainage to come out and take a look at the waste pipe at the property which he thinks is cracked underground due to significant seepage around the pipe. Any reccommendations?

I just want to recommend Andy Hall (joiner) - not allowed to post link as new here ....

He has replaced my kitchen doors, replaced my sink and laid oak laminate flooring in my kitchen and dining area. He has also fitted new skirting boards.

Andy has given me some good advice, helped to make my kitchen look more modern and has done a fab job! I haven't had to spend a lot of money to have a kitchen that looks brand new :) (I kept my old work tops, tiles and unit carcasses) Andy replaced and fixed everything else. He was on time for the two days he was here and he tidied up after the job was done.

I will definitely recommend Andy to anyone needing a joiner and I would not hesitate to have him back for other jobs around the house.

Thanks again Andy

Just had old bathroom stripped out and new bathroom fitted by Sam Lovatt, who is super reliable and a nice bloke. He did nearly everything himself, although he prefers to work with plasterers and floor and tiling specialists. He keeps to time and to quotation, and gives good advice not just on fitting but also on the best types of bathroom equipment, if you ask him.

very capable and tidy workman, and easy to have around, Recommended, contact on 07909842848
