Ms Macbeth   76 #4 Posted November 19, 2009 You need to get your rent account cleared before you can exchange. Its all in here: http://www.sheffieldhomes.org.uk/find-a-new-home/mutual-exchanges#mex2  And this is the bit you need to read -  Before we agree to the exchange, we need to check that:  you qualify for the size and type of property you wish to move to your rent account is clear and there is not a possession order on your home for either rent arrears or anti social behaviour
 Share this content via...
HeadingNorth   11 #5 Posted November 19, 2009 Arrears that accrued while your partner was still living in the property, he should still be (jointly) liable for. However the council might find it easier to come after you for them instead of him, and it might end up being your problem trying to make him pay his share. PettyEygpt   10 #6 Posted November 26, 2009 If you live in a council property and the arrears are current - no chance.  If the arrears were accrued at an address you no longer live in ie a former tenancy - you will be able to exchange. Numpty123 Â Â 10 #8 Posted November 28, 2009 Talk to the council and explain the situation. I think they would at least try to help particularly as you are on your own now so you will need to be closer to your family to get support with the kids. Good luck. x
 Share this content via...
