altus   540 #5 Posted October 26, 2009 That link you gave is the one it uses for all Journey Details pages so it will only show the journey you searched for for you. It might show an entirely different journey if someone has used the site recently.
 Share this content via...
altus   540 #6 Posted October 26, 2009 That does look reasonable. I've only got trains heading for Glasgow recently via Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly when going to the Lake District - which would be another alternative for you. You are probably best booking in advance and reserving seats - particularly on the Preston to Glasgow bit. (I'm not sure how crowded the train will be but I do know that standing for 2:20 isn't fun so best to be sure. Seat reservations are still free I think.) HotPhil   10 #8 Posted October 26, 2009 Flights could be cheaper - might be worth considering. Scotland's great though!
 Share this content via...
HeadingNorth   11 #9 Posted October 26, 2009 Megabus is very cheap, but it might take a day and a half...  Glasgow to Sheffield used to take me a good five-seven hours depending on how trains connected.
 Share this content via...
taxman   12 #10 Posted October 27, 2009 If you fancy a bit of luxury you could always join the Caledonian Express at Preston say, and have a nice sleep on the way up. Waking up to misty mountains, buzzards and the smell of Scotland whilst on a train is fantastic.
 Share this content via...
ToryCynic   10 #11 Posted October 27, 2009 I went on Megabus to Glasgow from London and it took about 10 hours. But it is very cheap
 Share this content via...
