What are Sheffield's five rivers and seven hills called?

Recommended Posts

What are the seven hills, though? (There seems to be more than 7!)

When does an edge count as a hill?

I guess Norton must feature in some way 'cos the Water Tower can be seen from most places ...

Anyone here know?

Sheffield is not built on seven hills, so trying to count exactly seven is a futile effort.

Surely Crookes/Walkley is one of the hills?

Crookes/Walkley are on Tapton Hill, which also includes Broomhill, Tapton and presumably Crosspool too. (Plus other places I can't think of right now)

So is it 7 or 8 hills then

It's eight, within the current city boundaries. It was originally five. It was never seven.

I know what it is about you now, you always state things so dogmatically as though you're right. When quite patently obviously, you aren't ... as in this case. Although I have the utmost respect for JG Harston's encyclopaedic knowledge and research, in this case he is mistaken ;)

Stop trying to change history ... this is a well known fact about Sheffield and just because you say so, you can't change it :D
