  1. Just for clarity - Police Constable (PC) - Full powers and paid salary. Special Police Constable (SPC or SC) - Full powers but volunteer and carry out the role in their spare time outside or their full time employment. Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) - Do not have the office of constable and are not warranted. You will notice they do not carry cuffs, baton, or spray. They are able to issue certain tickets now though.
  2. The TV's were installed when the back room was renovated last year, before Rob (old landlord) left and Ryan (new landlord) arrived. Rob was dead set against the idea of TV's however Abbeydale own the pub so it was ultimately their decision. They are mainly intended for functions only (ie to display photos at a birthday do). They are currently used as a glorified radio on a very low volume. I also expect when the extension is complete and the main bar renovated we may see more TV's. Fingers crossed not though!
  3. The bridge was in a far worse state of repair than anticipated once they had opened it all up. A revised press release should be issued within the next couple of weeks.
  4. Take it from someone with insider knowledge... It won't be open until February at the earliest.
  5. I said 'so called victim' for two reasons mainly. First, in your original post you said that he had 'legged it' prior to the police attending. Secondly, drunken brawls between lads are normally difficult to pin point blame. They're all as bad as each other once the beer starts flowing. Genuine question though. If there were 20 witnesses that saw this lad take a severe pummelling, why did no one take care of him after? Sit him down, talk to him? As it was he was allowed to just wonder away and then people point blame at the police for not finding him?
  6. I hate these unnecessary police bashing statements. They attended an incident. They took witness statements. What more did you expect them to do there and then? Go running off looking for a car that could be miles away? How do you know they didn't follow it up? They will have circulated the registration. No doubt CCTV would have been told. How do you know the police didn't go to the registered owners address the following day and make further enquiries? Why do people expect an instantaneous result. These things take time. And if the so called 'victim' couldn't even be bothered to stick around, things will take even longer.
  7. Love the comparison! Damage only accident between two vehicles versus the murder of 298 people...
  8. To be fair I don't think anyone was expecting the sheer volume of people turning out to watch. Where we were, Mortimer Road / Penistone Road junction, there must have been in excess of 3000 people with one police officer and one PCSO. The road next to it was closed however people still chose to ignore the closure and drive up anyway in an attempt to park. It was a thankless job for them keeping everyone off the route let alone acting parking warden.
  9. I'm guessing the rerun of Jeremy Kyle has finished and you're now bored?
  10. How do you suggest you do this? From personal experience with these young vagrants they aren't normally keen on pulling over for a quick chat.
  11. Isn't it? The OP was implying past offenders shouldn't be given employment due to their history. What is the alternative to people with a criminal record? Spend the remainder of their lives sponging off the state mixed with a bit of petty crime?
  12. I for one would rather them work to earn a living rather than going back to thieving and dealing. Yes they have made poor life choices, but if they are willing and able to put that behind them and start contributing to society then I applaud them for that.
  13. For low maintenance and low cost a tarmac finish would probably work out best. Nice tidy finish as well.
  14. Wait, I know this one... If ten people each lost 10p then I believe it would be 10 x 10p = 100p which can also be expressed as £1. Am I correct? Can I have a sticker?
  15. Both Napoleon Casino's have it on and it's normally a decent pint!
