  1. My partner is thinking about having her front door replaced with a shiny new UPVC one..... Anybody got any recommendations or companies to avoid? Good service/poor service.....?? Safe Style are already rubbed off the list due to being rude and offensive to her!! Constructive comments welcomed and thanks for taking the time to read this.
  2. Arnold Clark were always reasonable - had a few from them over the years....i presume they are still on the go!
  3. I dont think its just Stannington Pattricia.....its an epidemic all over the place...growing up and living in S6 im shocked that this kind of thing can happen here and echo all the well wishes on this post.... modern day society...not a nice place to be im afraid...hope the lad makes a speedy and full recovery and the scum are removed from society...
  4. Try Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park at Holmfirth....it says Rallies welcome on their website so i presume that means larger groups welcome.... Been there a few times and its a nice little place...some nice walks, river running thru the site....scenic...lots going for it!!

  10. Nice one Ruby...kinda forgotten what this thread started off as.....
  11. I was quite interested in this sort of thing years ago. I used to have a book on the subject but wouldnt have a clue where it is these days, I have a feeling it was lent out and never returned, so, yes, there is a book out there containing a map, called England Bermuda Triangle if I recall. I know there are loads of ley lines in the Peak District, if i remember Arbor Low seems to be a hot bed of lines. Also there is a little stone circle out at Holdron Edge which I think has one running through it. There are a couple of members on here who have an interest in this kind of thing judging by other threads that i have seen, maybe they will be able to point you in the right direction....Good luck!!
  12. Thanks to all who have made constructive and/or informed comments on this......all opinions are personal and information on other peoples experiences are grateful received. In my opinion my car was damaged due to neglect of a road by the council, hence the claim and it was highlighted to them to do something about it so others were not put in the same position as i was....im a tax payer and feel mighty peeved that i have to pay for something that wasnt in any way my fault and dont look for others to pay my bills as may have been implied by some.... To the ones who have offered sound advice again i extend my thanks - i have avenues to investigate now......
  13. Thanks for your response....spoken to the council and they admitted that the hole was filled in, maybe due to me reporting it....and i am aware that i am not automatically entitled to compensation and all the points you made. Just trying to gauge opinion on how to and whether to proceed with anything further.
  14. To cut a long story short....hit a large pot hole near Crystal Peaks mid January...caused over £500 damage to my car - 2 new alloys and suspension. Reported it to the council on the next available day (monday, incident occured on saturday) and went back to take pictures of the hole as this was the first opportunity I had to do so. Surprise surprise the hole had been filled in, I know I should have taken pictures at the time so please dont comment on this but when i arrived the tarmac was fresh.....practically steamin!! Anyway lodged a claim and heard today that the council are not liable due to the fact that the road was inspected last August..... Anyone else had any similar experiences? I would be interested to hear your stories.... Next step, well i guess its the Small Claims Court......unless anyone has any better ideas....
