With 3 resident milliners and 2 award-winning guest milliners, the shop wiill be a treat for those looking for headwear for weddings, race days, christenings or those just coming for a nosy! The shop will be open Monday to Saturday 10.30 to 5.30 and between 10.30-4.30 on Sundays. There will be a launch evening on Monday 16th with a little bit of fizz between 5-7pm for you to come and explore the collections out of hours. 2. i know this is now a VERY old post, but i finally got round to publishing the research i did about sheffield's old hat shops on our website! thank you so, so much for all your help and input, it was super useful. i hope you enjoy reading and will maybe come and see us in the winter gardens next month when we re-launch The Hat Stand http://thehatstand.weebly.com/news-and-updates/looking-back-sheffields-hat-shops
  3. there is more info about the Pop-up shop on Facebook too....please do feel free to invite a friend or 3 x
  4. myself and two other milliners took on the pop-up shop under the banner of The Hat Stand earlier this year and we have just had confirmation that we have a tenancy again next spring too. split between a few businesses, the rent is far less of a risk, however, staffing the shop is possibly the biggest consideration, as you do need to have cover all the time you are open. the ambassadors are super helpful and you will get to know them during your tenancy. they are happy to help with set-up/pack down, if the furntiture (all provided) is too heavy for you to move on your own...and to keep an eye out so you can take a necessary loo break! we didnt make it easy for ourselves, we decided that is we were going to have a shop space we had to make a big splash...so we had workshops, a mad hatters tea party (catered by zoobys) and a full fashion day with a team of over 20 people and live entertainment! we all made our rent back (and plenty more!) during the 2 weeks and were still getting press from the event, thanks to our photos from the fashion day, last month. we set out that for us, promotion of our businesses, building our networks and generally raising our profiles was the aim of the project...these will factor next year, but we will be taking a different tack. but no spoilers! x

  16. "trash the dress" shoots have been popular in the past- i dont know if they still are google image search "trash the dress" for a bit of inspiration. i confess, im not sure how i feel about them, a wedding dress is quite a pricey purchase and i dont know that i would feel comfortable wrecking it. traditionally, the wedding dress was kept to make a christening gown...maybe a seamstress recommendation could be in order instead x
