I think that they send out them free if they were faulty, or charge if it is not covered in warranty. Alternatively, how about using an "all for one" / universal one until its replaced?
I spose if you have an understanding landlord, they will meet you half way? My old landlord was not quite as understanding for me, but when my friend took over my tenancy, they dropped his rent when he said he was looking elsewhere...
