  1. I have a painting by Conrad Lorenz entitled "Waiting For Father At The Pawnshop" featuring a street corner at Asline Road. I inherited it from my father. It was painted on hardboard and Mr Lorenz has put the title along with his address on the back. It has a wooden frame but no glass or protective covering. I have failed tofind any other of his works so Ihave no idea of its worth froma financial point. I am at [email protected].
  2. This was a Division 2 fixture at Bramall Lane. I think United won 1-0, but I cannot find out who the goalscorer was. Anyone help?
  3. I am trying to establish when the Empire Thatre was demolished. I have read on some of the threads that it was demolished in 1958/59, but Moss Theatres claim it was 1962/63. My own memory recalls it closing for business in 1959 (last pantomime - Christmas 1958) and being demolished a few years later. Anyone have any information.
  4. Does anyone know the Divisions that made up the Sheffield Police in the early 1960's prior to merging with Rotherham Police
  5. Anyone know the divisional/sub-divisional status of Hammerton Road Police Station in the 50's and 60's
  6. Which hospitals catered for A&E cases in the 50's and 60's
  7. Plymouth beat Sheffield 5-1 or 5-2.The only player I know to have played was Steve Furniss
  8. I think I was playing about 10 years after you Kenny. The Woodbourn Sunday side then contained Alf and Dennis Denial,Pete Mawson and a lad called Bamforth I believe. Most of that team played for the Markets team in midweek.Alf Denial was a goal scoring machine in Sunday football at that time.I once saved a penalty from Alf to deny him his 50th goal of the season. This upset the Woodbourn lot , especially Alf , he went on to put five past me in the second half
  9. I am trying to contact people from my life in 1960's Hillsborough. My name is Brian Wright and I would be keen on contacting people who were members of Hillsborough Trinity Youth Club 1963-1968, members of Malin Bridge Junior School - late 1950's, and anyone my age who was knocking about Hillsborough in my time 1955-1975. I was goalkeeper for many local teams and football team mates and opponents would be welcome contacts. Bob aizlewood - broadcaster - and Ray and Sally Proctor would also be welcome .
  10. I attended a nursery schoo[, or whatever things were called then, between approx 1951 -1954, that was situated in the Burdalls Buildings. One of my fellow interns was a Kevin Headford. Could he be the same person
  11. I played football with a Steve Furniss in the late 1970's early 1980's. He was driving buses for a living then. cheers
  12. sheffield Youthclubs were playing Plymouth youthclubs. The Plymouth team were made up of young naval and dockside apprentices who trained and played together far more regularly than normal city youthclubs. Plymouth won 5-2 or 5-1. Steve Furness was a member of the Sheffield team.I was a member of a later side he played for -Wadsley Village. He was a very talented player. Last I heard he was playing for a team playing from the Gate at Wadsley Bridge. He was also a bus driver. That was a long time ago as I have been in exile for many years myself
