  7. Unfortunately the ambulance service is not classed as an emergency service by the government, only an essential service. Maybe if they were funded by the government (like police/fire) there would be more money available? I remember signing a petition last year to make ambulance an emergency service.... Obviously the petition didn't work!
  8. We paid by credit card. I'm hoping this means we will be able to get the money back. Do we have to prove they have gone into administration? Just wondering as it was October when we originally purchased the ring and then February when we needed the replacement?
  9. Just wondering if anyone else has had the misfortune to place an order with this shop? Or if anyone who has placed an order is aware that they seem to have gone into liquidation?? Back in October we bought a ring for my daughters 18th birthday, all was well until February when it snapped! We went back to the shop and they ordered her a new one, said they would contact us when it was in store. After trying to ring them for several weeks with no reply, we went to the shop today. Shutters down and everything cleared out! When we spoke with orchard square security they advised that they have done a moonlight flit leaving a lot of rent arrears...... So we are £130 light and my daughter had lost her 18th birthday present from my parents!! If anyone has any information on this company it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  10. I got my dress from the one at Northallerton - £1499 in the bridal shops and I paid £899.Well worth the trip in my opinion, I was luck though and found exactly the dress I wanted.
  11. I am currently doing this course through my employer. I am not attending a college - I am doing distance learning which fits in with me much better. Could you not ask your employer if they would be able to offer the same?
  12. 2nd vote for starweld - i have used them twice now - very fast service, really helpful guy!
  13. You will only need probate if the value of deceased persons estate is over a certain value (used to be £20,000 maybe more now?), if there is an owned house involved then you will always need probate. If probate is not required then you can make an appointment with the bank and take the death certificate, the accounts can usually be closed immediately. With regards to debts, if there are things like a mortgage or a secured loan on the house then that would be expected to be repaid - either from the sale of the house or by the family. If there are loans/credits card that are outstanding at the bank where you are trying to close the account they may take the money to repay these before giving family the balance that remains. Hope this helps x Other debts theoretically can be chased if the value of the estate would cover them, but a lot of companies do let unsecured debt die with the owner.
  14. Wisewood football pitches have training sessions for boys & girls (aged 4-7) on Tuesday nights 6-7 and Saturday mornings 10-11. Not sure if there's anything for the older ones x
  15. Thank you, I think I'm just panicking as nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I've never had any accidents in 20 years of driving, just my luck eh
  16. I know, so do I But it was ridiculously early in the morning and dark and I just never thought.
  17. I did not admit liability at the time of the accident .... I explained to the insurers what had happened exactly. I asked for them to check if there were cameras on the roundabout as they would have shown clearly what happened. My insurers said that as I went into the back of him it would always be my fault, which I accepted - I just dont't accept his vastly exaggerated version of events!! Surely if my insurers were made aware that he was not claiming for damage to his bike - he cannot now change his mind??
  18. Yes I fully admitted to the insurance that I nudged his back tyre - and the insurance company have told me on more than one occasion that he is not claiming for any damage to his bike. I fully dispute that I knocked him off his bike - he stepped off the bike and lowered it to the road. I am worried now as his story seems to have changed and he is now claiming £1000 for his bike that was undamaged!! There were no witnesses as it was very early in the morning and no traffic cameras etc .... so it's my word against his
  19. Thank you , I'm so angry , worried and stressed right now. The papers state I knocked him off the motorcycle - I did not!! They state that I did not allow enough braking distance - I was already stationary and just edged forward!! I'm so worried I'm going to have to pay the money myself and I really don't have that kind of cash available If I have legal cover on my insurance will they help me?? ---------- Post added 07-03-2014 at 21:00 ---------- That makes me feel a bit better. The claims dept I need to speak to is closed over the weekend and I'm on a 12 hour shift Monday with very small breaks - i don't finish until 18.30 on Monday and they close at 18.00 :-( I don't think it would be a short phonecall to them and I cannot take more time than my allocated break. I will try on Monday if I can x
  20. I'm after some advice to try and put my mind at rest as I'm working all weekend and cannot speak to my insurance company. Back story: In October I was driving to work and was stationary at a roundabout behind a motorcycle. There was no-one on the roundabout and I thought the bike was moving forward - he wasn't - I edged forward and nudged the back of the motorcycle tyre. There was no damage to my car or the bike - but we exchanged insurance etc at the scene. I contacted my insurance on arriving at work and notified them of everything that happened. One month later I spoke to my insurance who advised that the other party was not claiming for any damage to the bike - just personal injury. Insurance advised that they would dispute the injury claim as no damage to either vehicle and Impact was at less than 5mph. Fast forward to today - I have received court papers from the other party - claiming £2000 - claim is made up of personal injury, the cost of his bike!!! anxiety of being on the road I'm presuming he has gone to court as my insurance declined his claim - can't confirm this till I can speak to them on Tuesday - what do i do ?? I cannot afford to pay out £2000 - this is what I pay my insurance for. If I dispute it, how likely am I to win at court if the insurance refused to pay based on the facts presented? Help
  21. This was the case up until september... Now there is a strict list of the things that authorised leave can be granted for. Basically the only time it will be granted will be for bereavement, religious festivals and I couple of other things that I cant remember right now. ... but they are definitely not for reasons like " we cannot get holidays booked at work at the same time" or "this is my allocated holiday at work" etc
  22. ^^ This is one of the points that no-one seems to be considering. Employers cannot afford to let everyone who works for them with children have time off in the school holidays. The point tinfoilhat made is spot on!! Everyone who has children (male or female) could end up being turned down for work as employers don't want the hassle of holiday leave problems. Everywhere I have ever worked has had a holiday policy about the number of staff off any one time, and I'm sure most do, except teachers
  23. Here is my problem with the whole situation. Firstly, my husband works six days a week and I work 12 hr shifts (days and nights). The company I work for employs over 100 people in my department, over 2/3rds of them are women with children. We have a strict holiday policy around how many people can be off at any one time and so it is physically impossible for everyone, who wants/needs them, to get time off in the holidays. We get very little time together as a family as it is and, whilst I understand that it is not a given right to have a holiday, I think it is unfair to begrudge families precious time together. I have today been searching to try and get us a break during the holidays. We have 3 children and although we work hard, do not have a lot of cash to throw around. I looked at spain. Two weeks self catering in august, total price £3400!! Same holiday 2 weeks before...... £2075. I looked at going in this country. A week at centre parks.... £1099. Out of school hols.... £379. A cottage in devon.... £875 p/w.... out of hols £400. I have friends with children who do not have a choice in when thry take their holidays, they are allocated/worked into their shift patterns. Again, how do they get time for quality 'family time'? I understand that children should not miss out on schooling but I honestly fail to see how two weeks a year out of the classroom will be detrimental. I think it should only be enforced during exam years. What really makes me angry is that I have seen the 'exceptions' list of when holidays can be granted and suprise surprise religious festivals is on the list. ...
