  1. Next meeting is saturday 28th March, 10-12noon at the Stocksbridge Library (S36) in the downstairs community room. Very friendly group, everyone welcome.
  2. I've been to this one and there wasn't much happening in the way of customers.
  3. So how do we get in touch? Where do we send stuff? Both of my cats were taken in. One was the last in the litter and was going to be drowned the other visited and decided to stay.
  4. I got the pattern from someone on here to make jackets for ex-battery birds and I'm planning on tackling my first one this weekend. Couple of questions. Are there any do's and don'ts about the type of thread that can be used? Where do I send them once they're finished. Cheers Nadine.
  5. There are so many people trying to sell handmade cards now that most craft fair organisers are turning cardmakers down. As someone who has made and sold cards for over 10 years I can tell you its never been easy and rarely covered costs and seems to be getting more difficult. That said I would suggest you look at the local papers for school fairs and fetes, local shows and events. Also people organising events put contact details up on this forum but sometimes they can be a bit last minute. Good luck with it.
  6. Thankyou for your reply, the little details help build up the bigger picture. Alot of people don't realise that these guys did a full day heavy work and then did a night shift fire watching. A remarkable effort that couldn't be repeated today. You mentioned your father's armband. The 'standard' armband was white with ARP in black lettering, could you tell me if there are any other markings or differences on your father's? Many thanks Nadine
  7. I have a keen interest in the history of WW2 in Sheffield and Rotherham, specifically the ARP (Air Raid Precautions) connected to the Sheffield and Rotherham steelworks. It appears the steelworks had their own ARP wardens and I am trying to find information about this and would therefore like to ask for your help. Does anyone have any information they are willing to pass on? Any help, no matter how large or small, would be greatly appreciated. My contact details are as follows:- Nadine Green Virtue To Victory PO Box 679 Rotherham South Yorkshire S60 9EH virtuetovictory@aol.com Thankyou in advance.
  8. Have you tried downloading them? There is a good selection of free patterns on http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com. I'll have a rummage and see what I've got as well. Cheers Nadine.

  18. You beat me to answer this one. Meetings are held between 10am and noon. Very friendly group, as most knitting groups are, especially since its only been running a year.
  19. A prized idiot that likes the sound of his own opinions too much. The real irony is that knitting was a mans profession until relatively recently, if you call 100 years recent
  20. I was hoping to join you at the peace gardens but it looks like I'll be tucked up in bed since I've now started coughing and spluttering everywhere. Good luck and have fun to all those who can make it.
  21. Transport in Sheffield is always a problem. Could you send me a PM with the magazines you take please because our details should be in most of them. If they're not I need to get in touch with them and sort it out. Cheers Nadine.
