  5. If you have the budget then enlist the help of a smll cheapish PR company as they have great contacts. Otherwise - You need to organise a photocall - so let all the local papers know that your having the party so that they can come report on it. Then possibly speak to your local Business Link or Yorkshire Forward for a list of contacts who might want to attend. We recently did the photography for the launch party of the QPark at Charles Street Sheffield, and they had lots of car themed attractions. i.e a host of Super Cars, waiters and waitresses dressed like Formula 1 staff. Mini Scalextrics track operated by someone dressed as The Stig etc. So depending on the type of Magazine your running will determine what you should have there. They also used a catering company for the food who were just starting out and so did them a discount in return for the exposure. They also had a 'free bar' which was just a long table with people serving wine and cans/bottles of beer, which wouldn't work out too expensive but would help the party get in full swing. The main thing is to let plenty of people know - you don't want an empty room!
  6. Saw this on Money Saving Expert Forum, might be of help to anyone planning a wedding on a budget. What's the deal? Holiday Inn, Old English Inns and Britannia hotels are offering wedding receptions for under a grand inc a disco, dinner and bubbly. The offer varies from each hotel group: Holiday Inn is offering a buffet and wine for up to 100 guests, a wedding ceremony and planner, a disco and accommodation for the happy couple. See more details. How to book: The offer is ongoing, simply call your chosen Holiday Inn and quote the offer. Old English Inns’ offer includes a glass of champagne to toast the occasion, a three course meal, a glass of wine to go with it and a disco for up to 50 guests. How to book: The offer is ongoing, look through the list of participating Old English Inns and call direct quoting the offer. Britannia hotels comprises is offering Bucks fizz and a 3 course breakfast for 50 guests, evening buffet for 100 guests, room hire and toastmaster. (It jumps up to £1,499 for 2011 and 2012 bookings). How to book: Call or email for bookings up to 23 Dec 2010, see Britannia Hotels for the contact info. The offer applies to new bookings only and the drinks package cannot be changed. There is also a non-refundable £500 deposit on booking which has to be paid 4 weeks in advance. Out of bundle costs You will have to pay extra if you want to add extra guests or add something to the menu. And although some of the hotels offer a discount for guests, they will have to pay extra to stay the night. Always check if you have to pay a non-refundable fee before booking, and also get confirmation of what'll be included in the package. Are these any good? If you're looking for a lavish affair with all the trimmings, this is unlikely to come up trumps. Yet if you want an affordable simple affair with some basic food and drink, it won't be easy to organise it much cheaper.
